Trams in OpenTTD

Post by Wan-To »

Hi, I'd like to ask - how can I install tram tracks into OpenTTD (v. 0.5.3)? I have added required graphics, but I can only buy trams, not build tracks.

Are you using a nightly? You need to be, in order to build tram tracks. (I think)

you can get the latest nightly from here: http://www.openttd.org/nightly.php

Yeah, there's a menu for building tram tracks in the nightlybuild. But it's disabled. :(

Then:
a) you do not have loaded a NewGRF with trams
or
b) there is no tram available in the year you are playing.

Also see this link for a very recent discussion about all of this. The search function on these forums is not perfect but it is still your friend.

Also 0.6.0 supports trams, but it's a beta right now so expect bugs.

Hmm might be a bug, I can build trams and depots and road stops, but not tram stations (neither passengers or cargo).

Or is it me missing something?

Using compiled trunk + generic tramset v0.32

What exactly is the problem? A screenshot could be helpful.

The issue is I can build roadstops but not stations. See screenshot, stations are grayed out/disabled:

Same for stations for cargo

Hi
The reason is because they dont have terminus stations for trams, they always have to go through the stops. You will have to just put a loop after the stop.

Okey, that's just normal then.

Thinking about it, why then show a station image in the build menu?

ANyway, I can have fun with my trams now!

I think it is easier to disable buttons than remove them and redesign a menu. Another reason is that it could be implemented at some point and they could just be reenabled.

Well, they are greyed out, but It'd make sense to see them removed.
