It's an interesting idea. Presumably they'd run to St Pancras.

DB to use Channel Tunnel?

Re: DB to use Channel Tunnel?
This looks very interesting.
I would imagine that the more competition and trains running through the tunnel, the better, in terms of prices.
I doubt that the safety regulations issue will be a major problem for DB, I wouldn't be surprised if they were relaxed, and I'm sure DB can buiild some new trains to meet the requirements.
St. Pancreas station would seem likely. Otherwise there's not much point in having built that new line...

There's certainly the trackspace there. 3tph on a main line that could carry 20tph, or 15% capacity. Hard to imagine that on any other British main line.
Oh, and I'd forgotten that DB already use the Channel Tunnel as owners of EWS.

Re: DB to use Channel Tunnel?
that thing with splitting the trains in the middle could become an issue if they use single unit ICE3 as there are no doors between the carriages.
However, if the couple two of them together, that would probably do. I doubt however, that so much capacity is needed on that line.

Re: DB to use Channel Tunnel?
As far as I know, ICE3s are designed to run in fixed consists and are only seperated as part of maintenance. Splitting an ICE3 mid-journey into two halfs would lead to some very odd terminating procedures!
