Well here is the topic. It doesn't explain a lot but it's bloody good this stuff. It allows a track to be bi-directional but so that you don't get trains meeting each other at a bi-directional signal, makes it good for stations where you want trains to overtake one another. Still experimenting with it at the moment, I reckon I've slaughtered about 3000 people trying to figure it out! :P

No screenshots of those I'm afraid.

The last game got out of hand and I really couldn't be bothered to sort it, so I started a new game. Originally it was going to be UKRS in Wallyweb's "NARS Valley" scenario, however UKRS is too weedy for the gradients involved so I changed to DBSet, however the industries/cargoes are incompatible so I decided to make my own scenario similar to "NARS Valley" but with more towns and with only a handful of forest and one sawmill, there are more towns in total and some more midsized towns.

A BR75 departs with the inaugural service of the company. Marborough Bay is one of the largest towns on the map.

First stop after Marborough Bay is Mentwood. The station and railway cling to the cliff edge.

Tarnville. The line to here was opened in 3 stages. The line through the tunnel is to Marborough Bay. The other line is not complete, tunneling is still in progress.

Hintfield is one of the few passing places on the line from Marborough Bay to Tarnville. Show are the pair of BR75s that operate the all stops service between the two cities and a BR38 that operates the non-stop service.

This complicated spiral is seen with two BR38s. This is on a new line from Tarnville.

Finally, the current terminus of the new line from Tarnville. The line will eventually be extended further.

Thanks Ben, another shot showing the first area of double track. It cost a rather large amount of money and it isn't all that long. Thank Patchgod for custombridgeheads though! :D

Nice work Ameecher. I like the "loop" and the "first bit of double track". That map should keep you out of trouble for a while ... well, real life trouble ... looks like you might have some virtual challenges there.

Construction advanced at a great pace. Here are some shots of another new line. I'll add a map next time I go on a screenshotting spree.
Lunninghall was a temporary terminus for a while, when the line was extended it's stabling point closed and was demolished, there is one piece of track work remaining though ;) A BR38 heads north.

Wrendingham is a split level station. The town has a limited service although quite a lot of trains do pass through. It wouldn't even have a service if a passing place wasn't needed!

Prenfingley, in the Northern corner of the map is going to develop into a major regional hub. Furnished with 3 platforms and a goods platform the area is cramped and could suffer from congestion in the future. The same BR38 arrives in platform 1, no such congestion problems yet!

Stuff has changed a lot. Here a couple of scenic shots and then a map so you can request an area.
The Great Chenninghall branch line was threatened with closure at one point but a local petition ensured it's survival and the line even saw a new DMU. This is the last steam service in operation on the line.

This is the mainline south of Lunninghall through Invenville Pass. Overhead Line equipment has been installed but electric services have not commenced yet. A V160 heads north to Prenfingley while a V200 heads south with a TEE service to Marborough Bay.

I think I ought to add this massive screenshot as well. There are about 8 BR181 hauled Electric expresses serving Marborough Bay but annoyingly, none are in shot!

That massive screenshot is quite remarkable indeed. And the map is filling out quite nicely. However, whatever did the citizens of Mardwood and Rardindhead ever do you to deserve being so ignored and deprived of at least a weekly service?

They, along with Gretbourne, Fort Brenfingborough and Frinnway, decided to build there settlements on a very tall hill which is very difficult to get to. I was going to (and may still do) build a line from Tinningpool to Mardwood and then onto Lunningpool but the geography of the area has put me off some what.

Edit: Now look what you made me do Wally! I built the Tinningpool to Mardwood to Lunningpool line.
The first train from Lunningpool climbs a steep slope halfway to Mardwood.

In the case of Gretbourne, I was just lazy. It's the flattest route on the whole map with not a single gradient to climb! As a consequence, the company bought some feeble little battery railcars which do a sterling job.
The railcars depart their siding at Greningstone. (I tell a lie, there is a slope there!) Also, note the spiral below the siding and compare it to the earlier shot of Greningstone where trains had to climb a series of steep inclines.

And the small station at Gretbourne, there isn't so much as a shack for the waiting passengers. That'll teach the local authority to prohibit me from building!

Another one. This series of turnbacks and spirals looked good before I added a junction, then another. Double tracking it was hard work to. But it works, trains can get up it at a half a decent speed and this line will soon be electrified for 125mph running. Excellent :D

A particularily noisy V200 triggered an avalanche in the Invenville Pass, trains were diverted via the Little Grunbridge, Tinningpool and the Mardwood line. Electric trains were cancelled during this period with a number of V200s returned from store to run the diversions. The journey took an extra three hours. Passengers were far from impressed.
