Good work fellas, hard to make a decision there.

Had it down to Ameecher, Rai and The Irish..................... The Irish got my vote.

I'd definately say train-a-mania. I really like the how he photographed the ship with its surroundings but keeping your focus on the ship. Well done sir :).

I voted The Irish because of the way that the train is not important. Great shot!

On a side note, despite T-a-M's shot being very good, I felt it didn't fit the category as well as others did. Hence why I didn't vote for it.

I voted The Irish.

I just love the poignancy and the meaning behind the shot. I'm totally with Raichase - it's exactly what I envisaged from the idea of people and transport.

I'm going with Andel's. It almost looks like Thomas on a rainy day on the Island of Sodor.

My vote went to Raichase, although I have to say it was a close decision. Andel's shot was nearly as great.

I like the bloke standing in the door. I had a similar shot of a German conductor, but unfortunately, he didn't like to be pictured, so I had to delete it again...

In any case, thanks for the support so far.

I voted for Andels picture :), but i think i'm going to stop submitting any pictures since my picture is no where near as good as the rest  (I'n fact after seeing all of the others, i think mine isn't that good). They are all really good, but i felt that i liked Andel's Thomas the Tank Engine picture better for some reason.

I liked your *photo* a fair bit, but felt that the person wasn't so much the subject, which is why I didn't vote for it - as a photo of a TGV, it's a good'un.

I think i should re-phrase what i meant :) (since i typed it a little wrong :), proof you shouldn't type when tired  ), I was meant to say i should have chosen a better picture, (i should have picked this one instead :( http://atomicdanny.fotopic.net/p44747073.html). When i said i felt mine wasn't as good, it was because of the reason you just mentioned ;) (but thanks though :))

Just to note though i apologize for the first part of the comment

Ameecher, I'm a big fan of that shot with the GNER XPT (erm, HST or whatever you lot call 'em) - the train is not the focus of the shot, because technically, it's a poor photo of a train. The story, like in The Irish's photo, is from the people.

From the same guise, I got some more photos to the theme of this months competition today - wasn't planning to, but a driver I was talking to knew the volunteer driving 3801 today (turns out the volunteer driver works for Cityrail and has been a driver since the 38's were in regular service, some 40 odd years ago), and got some great photos of the two of them badgering each other...

Not as gutted as me....

That kid was really trembling with fear because as I'm sure you know, HSTs/XPTs aren't quiet and that thing was bashing along at 115mph ish, hence the slight (or extreme) blurriness of the picture.

Just a note to the winner, whoever that may be - I won't be asking you for a topic this week. Because of the lack of time we have in submitting for next month's vote (there'll only be 15 days to get pictures in - I WILL be on time this month), I'll throw it open as an open topic.

This means people can start hunting for their photos now and hopefully we can get a bit of a crowd in.

Thats why I like it as the subject of the competition - the train photo itself, due to the blur, isn't a good train photo, but as a photo of a station, telling a story, it's fantastic.

Well, competition or not, it's a damned fine photo, probably one of your best, I'd say. Very nice work.

(shameless plug: More Photos, of people and trains)
