Crossing bridges

Post by blackjak231 »

Hi everyone, i'm new on the forum but i'm playing OTTD almost since the beginning.
I never tried to enter in the script and grf things (i mean to make them!), but i'de like to.

Anyway, I was thinking about a thing. when for example you have to bridges, and you need to make another one across that one, you need to destroy it to or build something else.
It would be really cool if some people could TRY to work on the idea of having bridges junction.

Here is a picture of what i mean!(made with the gimp...)

Thanks to anyone who will TRY to do this!!!

sounds like a good idea but i suppose its just easier to raise land and create a junction there. so cant really see it happening. but still a good idea and would be good if it could be made to work. particularly for roads would be great

Suggested earlier, impossible without the new map array and proper graphics.

That sums up what has been the result of the same suggestion in the past.

"Baby steps" as the devs say. It took years just to get bridges going over signals/diagnol track!
second quote was taken from the older thread, heres a link to an older topic

i know the topic is about bridges over bridges, and such, but the thread moves onto this subject

sorry if i'm repeating an old suggestion, but i searched everywhere and din't find anything about this.....

Yea it could be a solution but with the new versions of openttd, where you can build bridges over roads the long way, It is really needed because when you build a bridge in a city, and you need to raise land, its not always that easy....
I understand that this is hard to do tho!!!!!

i was thinking about bridges crossing over water. never thought about them crossing over land? not sure what would be best then, but it would definitly be good to see bridges crossing like they do in reality, mabye even if it was just roads.
if its not possible though we just have to find other solutions i guess

That is as designed, I believe.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

It is usually discouraged to overtake on ramps/hills because you usually can't see the traffic comming when you're driving up. That's probably also why there is a white line on those ramps.

it would be good wouldnt it if bridges could cross over water. nuthing more annoying when you've built all your track than finding you cant build the bridge you need cuz theres already one going across your path. only way to fix this atm is to build an island in the middle of the lake and create a junction(wich is wat i meant when i said raise land) but if it isnt your bridge this isnt an option.

revsol: just a minor request, could you use your shift key? It is quite hard to read your text, even though it has some proper punctuation, but using some capitals when they're required would certainly help. It would also be more useful if you use proper english words instead of words like "cuz".

for me, there is no problem with this graphic. white line means you can't pass a vehicle, and in many countries (like US or France so far I know) you can't pass a vehicle when yo uare on a slope bacause :
- the visibility is bad
- when going down, the vehicle you are passing should accelerate, or you could accelerate to much and don't be able to brake
- when going up, you could lack of power, then won't be able to pass the vehicle in a correct distance

Nope, my good man. Not yet. And no one works on it either (to my knowledge, anyway).
If you are not ready to work a bit for your ideas, it means they don't count much for you.
OpenTTD and Realism? Well... Here are a few thoughs on the matter.
