Designing a new tram set, but need some help
Basicly just like the title says.
What I hope to design in the tram set:
I am trying to design a tram set to go with a map that I am making (Ill tell you how this fits in after * )
The trams that I am trying to design are not based of any real ones, The ones I'm designing will be similar in setup to this: Engine then 1 - 3 articulated carrgine capable of carrying products like: (**)Wood, Coal, Steel, Etc, Etc, but not passangers or mail, not sure about goods yet.
* Any way, as to why I want to desgine somthing like this, as I said I'm making a map that I want these trams for, The map with have some very large citys on it, In these citys will be some industrys, however they will be way to far in for a train to reach them unless you destroy large amounts of the city to get the station and rail in, so thats where the trams come in, they will be the best way to move goods/pruducts in/out of the city.
** Now with the trams, I said I wanted them to be similar to this Engine 1-3 carriges, I want the trams to be a bit slower than the trucks in early years, but late/endgame they will be much faster, I want to have several trams for each industry relsed throught the game years (just like all other vehicals), and as the get better, they will have more carriges, or capable of carrying more, or a combination.
Ok, so now here is where I need some help:
I can desiging all of the images my self, but I have trouble when it comes to coding, (just a bit to much for me to understand without checking the wiki every two minutes to make sure its all in order) So basicly I would either like to work with some one and help with the coding and designing of the trams, or have some one working on the coding while I focus on the tram desiging.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have any questions on what im trying to do, or want me to be more specific on some areas, please ask away.
If you would like to help, just tell me what you are willing to do, or what you are willing to do to help.
Please help me make this work as I think this would be a great addon for the game.

NEVER save sprites as .jpg. Use .png instead. I hope you have a backup of your work, cause that .jpg file is ruined.

Ah great, please use .png for the forums, it's a compressed, lossless format

Re: Designing a new tram set, but need some help
What Purno is getting at is JPG compression will affect the palette etc. and effectively ruins your sprites (Which is a shame, they look nice). Try a program called GIMP. Its freeware and very good. its what I now use (As photoshop was affecting my palettes too).
Re: Designing a new tram set, but need some help
dont worry, they are safe, this is just an exported copy of them, (even tho these ones are old'sh now, been doing some updating on them) I still have the original copy safe and sound in .pcx format, im using a programe called iMage, i find it very usfull as i can export and import pallets with it, and a few other things as well.Ben_K wrote:What Purno is getting at is JPG compression will affect the palette etc. and effectively ruins your sprites (Which is a shame, they look nice). Still, what i need is for some one to help with the coding, iv tried and tried, but its just a bit to much for me to remeber, i guess with a few weeks of solid practive i might get it, but i just dont have that sort of time on my hands
