Adding Industries...

Post by mr.kreezie »

Hi,

Im new -great, hi!-

Is is possible to ADD industries? Like eg. A carmanufacturer. But then WITHOUT replacing some other industry? so really add it to the game.
And same question but then about the cargo and trains/cars/boats...

thnx

not just yet, but the developers are working on it, it's called "NewIndustries"

Once it's finished, people can create sets with new kinds of industries, there even are some industry sets already because TTDPatch already has NewIndustries. OpenTTD doesn't support it yet but its the thing devs are working at currently for the next version.

You can add vehicles, buildings (houses) via a grf. There are plenty available or you can make your own. For new cargo only tourists are currently 'half' working. (That goes with new industries so you have to be a little patient.) Prefer the latest nightlies where new features are added first.

What's so special about car manufacturing?
And tourists at the moment only work with aircrafts. Is there any othe type of transportation that can accomodate tourists? At the moment their monetary contributions make them uneconomical, as a 600 seater plane is only refitted to 18 tourists.
That's not economical.
I think that I may never see,
A billboard as lovely as a tree.
Perhaps, unless the billboards start to fall,
I may never see a tree at all.

Hi.

IIRC some busses or coaches from the long vehicles set by George support tourists. But only in TTDPatch until the support for new industries and new cargos is completed in OpenTTD.

Kind regards

I meant it like a car industry requires steel, rubber and glass. They produce cars which can be seen as goods to a city. and steel, rubber and glass have to come from other industries.
Like so:

City accepts cars
Cars are made out of Steel, Rubber and Glass
Steel is made out of Iron ore and coal
Rubber out of rubber plantage?
and glass out of sand.

This gives much more transporting and much more fun i think...

How did you accomplish this screenshot? I recognized the revision number and downloaded a recent nightly (r10851) but I can't refit the busses to tourists. I have TTRS3, AV8 and LV4 grfs installed. What do I need to get this "half" working?

Thx in advance.

Kind regards

Missing an appropriate grf. Either the ECS one or this (be prepared for possible game crushes and negative income):
(By the way: I am not an OpenTTD developer. But seems last nightlies barely have any new things added. Either DEV's have gone for vacations 8) or they are preparing something big. )

They are working on the NewGRF_ports branch. So we can't see the changes on nightly page.

Thanks a lot. I'll give it a try.

I pray they are working on the last steps to finish the new industries feature. If there are on vacation I do not know any other person that deserves the vacation more than the developers of OpenTTD and TTDPatch. They are doing a great job.

Kind regards

I am finding this: http://cia.vc/stats/project/OpenTTD/.rss to be extremely useful :)
As you can see most of the work is going into the newgrf ports branch. Some of the new airport features sound awesome.

Yeah... I was on vacations. A whole big two weeks. Well.. Big.. not really...
Anyway, i've already fired up my system. Got to finish those newindustries, now.... Mid-fall is approching...

And on behalf of OpenTTD and TTDPatch dev teams, thank you, zombie, for your kind words :)

http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php ... Industries
Look for variable 44

As you can see, it is not much...
var 67 and 68 are still to be finished.
That and an awfull lot of debugging and finding what could have been forgotten
