LOL Voyager throws sickie, hilarity ensues.
Was traversing Wolves-Preston yesterday on the 1021 Virgin XC service to Edinburgh. Upon leaving Wigan (1126), the engines stuttered, then cut out. The lights went off and a few people in the carriage cheered. The floundering train stuttered as it slowed down... 20... 15... Then all of a sudden was an almighty bang as if an engine had misfired, and everything came back on again. Within seconds the Voyager was doing 75.
Ah the life of a Virgin driver.

I find it quite disconcerting when a diesel train stalls. Especially in the middle of the fens where no one lives except old slack-jaw with the pitchfork who was against the railways in the C19th and hates them now too....

Tales from the Country (formerly Heart of the Country) hosted by Tony Francis did a rather large piece on Berney Arms railway station on Tuesday. Dunno if you caught it Gavin, but it was an interesting programme.

Suppose its better than, "Why have we stopped here? What are we doing? Letting on blackberries?"

Nah, I didn't. Quite how you can do a lot on Berney Arms is a mystery to me though...Dave Worley wrote:Tales from the Country (formerly Heart of the Country) hosted by Tony Francis did a rather large piece on Berney Arms railway station on Tuesday. More about the pub than the train station, although they followed a group of people who went to keep it looking pretty.Ameecher wrote:Nah, I didn't.
