On the surface it would appear that we have ttdpbase grf files scattered about the forums.
I know of one central location to obtain and download ttdpbase grf and it is here and it is at version 1.
Also, it would appear that this thread has assumed the discussion for the ttdpbase grf and has several updates as well although I'm not sure which ones have made it onto the patch's web site.
There's a lot of new stuff re the patch and OTTD being added to an already extensive list of existing stuff.
This can lead to a lot of confusion on the part of noobes (and some not so noobes too) that results in frustrating searches being abandoned for topic digging, new threads unnecessarily opened and a whole lot of ugly flaming.
Now, I do realize from the discussion that this ttdpbase update is related to bus stops and maybe truck stops and I think I saw tram stops mentioned along the way, however ttdpbase is much more than these.
My suggestion is yes, discuss the RV Stops part of it here, but post the revised ttdpbase grf file over in the other discussion, perhaps with a link back to here for those who want to see the discussion.
Now, one might be tempted to say "but it is still under development". That is all well and good but RVStops are a part of ttdpbase grf, not the other way around and all ttdpbase files should still be kept under one thread for clarity.
Speaking of clarity, I have looked through this recent discussion and I have found no clear mention of the point of the exercise nor of the results. Why would I want ttdpbase v4 and what will I see different in my game?

Erm... Can someone tell me what minime has changed? We've had drive-through road stops for a while?
Or... Does this allow us to make our own graphics for it?

We've had drive-through road stops, however they were drawn as a combination of original TTD sprites - two of the lampposts, some cargo icons, etc. That prevented them from being customized for obvious reasons.
I have implemented a feature that OpenTTD already supported and that is the ability to replace those graphics using Action 5. In order for that to work, the layout of the stations was changed slightly, and therefore I needed to provide some standard graphics to draw in the situation when user doesn't provide any. I have chosen to use the same graphics that OpenTTD uses to keep the features same. Since TTDPBASE is meant for providing such standard graphics for it all the other Action5 features, I didn't see any reason not to add them there.
Hence, I've updated it, as has been done before. However, patchman is the only one who can upload this new version of this file to the official website. That brings us to the current situation.
I hope that clarifies it.

Thanks for clarifying the why and the what. It definitely makes good sense and I'll give it a go.minime wrote: ... Since TTDPBASE is meant for providing such standard graphics for it all the other Action5 features, I didn't see any reason not to add them there.

I still think you should also post the download file in the other thread because that thread would be the first one found when looking for ttdpbase information.

EDIT: I see you did it. Excellent.

Fortunately, at least for the most recent change (and this would be a good practice for all devs, now that I think about it) a link to the latest ttdpbase[w].grf appears in changes.log.wallyweb wrote:On the surface it would appear that we have ttdpbase grf files scattered about the forums.
... Or, will, in about an hour.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.
