So confused on instalation

Post by proethomega »

Okay I downloaded the TTD Download for Windows on the first site. I then follow its links to the second site for the patch.

And then I spend 30mins figuring out why I cant install it.

Im at work at the moment so I cant remember 100% what was said.
I went to the Setup.exe and ran that, (for the TTD game) and that seemed to run smoothly, I then ran the patch, and that seemed to not work. It was saying a file could not be found?

Can anyone post the correct prosedure? I mean, does the patch files ahve to be unziped to where the rest of the files are? or do they have to be seperate? Im english so do I run the English.exe?

Sorry for being a complete and utter NOOB, but it was late last night and I wasnt in the mood for spending time on it.

I would recommend downloading and running Nr-TTD by SpComb, which greatly simplifies the process of TTD and TTDP.

Running the exe for the game is futile, as it (the game) needs the patch to run properly. The patch files do need to be unzipped.

I wasnt running the game.exe I was running the Setup.exe

Once that had finished I ran the Patch.

Shouldnt that be enough for the game to start?

If not what am I missing?

try the link posted above, it will simplify the process of getting TTDP working, and greatly at that.

Run ttdpatchw.exe to play the game, and make sure you have "win2k=on" in ttdpatch.cfg

You must use the original TTD installer or open TTDX Configurator and go to Options > TTD Main Configurations to create the registry entries needed.

Open main TTD Configuration from Start menu (green fish icon). For sound setting, choose General MIDI. Apply, and don't start TTD from that (you must start TTD Patch).

Thanks got it all working now.

But I tried to save my game last night, and it said Save Game Error And that was it.

So I wasted 3 hours.

Any ideas?

i may sound even more stupid but i've followed all of these instructions but I can't construct any trains at the start of the game, and there are hardly any vehicles, ships or planes. I owned the original game so i remember there being a lot more on offer from the start - do i need to download something or just wait till they appear ingame

The patch start earlier then the original TTD, 1921 as to 1950.
The TTD trains are constructed around the 1930's.
So if you want trains and also other vehicles earlier then that you need to install some sets.
You can find most of them in the grfcrawler.
