I am not having any luck with Australia!
Trying to combine the DEMs and it throws an incoherent error.

I'll have to give it another shot sometime.

To cyber--

I'll have it up in a few minutes!

Here's my first go at it.
Because of how the topographical data is arranged, this is 80% US and 20% BC.
It does include grand forks!

I don't have ttd here at work to test and rework the map like I usually do... I will get a chance later tonight.

After inspecting the resulting map, I found a severe error that may not be fixable:

There is ocean in a totally incorrect spot, marked in this image.

Hi!! I have a question about heightmaps. I followed the instructions and now I have my PNG file. How do I load it into OpenTTD Scenario Editor?? Do I need some add-on?? Can you post pictures of the process?? Seems I´m missing something.

Just select the Map Generator from the main menu and it will ask for the PNG file...

People, people!

Here's what I've found in Railroad Tycoon II folder somewhere on my HDD.

It was 2600x2600 PCX originally, but I resized it to 2048x2048 PNG.

You might also be interested in this site which contains heightmaps for simutrans. They'll probably need some reformatting, if anyone wants to uset hem with OpenTTD, but it contains among other the so much searched for World Map

Ireland

Here's a heightmap over Ireland. Now if anyone (me? (I'm not Irish! ;) )) could just make a decent Irish city/town name file...

Thanks for the excellent guide! Works like a charm (even though Microdem has been updated to version 10).

Heightmap

Post by Sir A. Boey »

Hello,

I tried to make a heightmap of my own it is not realistic but it's nice to see the outcome...

I made a heightmap from several pictures of Cantona the football player...

It's nice to see that you could integrate photo's into a map for Openttd It's nicer if you want to play none realistic heightmaps...

I posted a mapview and the scenario... So enjoy the wonders of a heightmap...

Hi all,

Was wondering if someone could help me with the attached height map. Essentially i wanted most of england, all of the Netherlands, and as far down to france as Paris.

I think this is made clear. Thank you very much guys.

That is not a heightmap. Here you can read what a heightmap is,
and here is a tutorial about making heigthmaps for OpenTTD.

sorry. my mistake. my actual request was if someone could generate said heightmap for me.

My computer is ancient and cannot cope with the demands. On a further note, is it possible to have the channel tunnel in my map?

Austria has already been done, it's quite a detailed and very big scenario.
