US Set Development Thread

Oh, nice!
I think, since we haven't seen Oracle around in a long while, it's time to start asking - Has anyone seen or heard from him? Or, is anyone interested in possibly updating the US Set GRF code, to include all the new trains that have been drawn but not yet added? This would also include the trams. Thoughts?

very nice. you're living proof of the fact that 3d-rendering can work out in TTD.

OpenTTD only supports running cost bases 4C30, 4C36 and 4C3C, whereas the US Set uses 4BA6 (train purchase price). I can't see this being changed in the near future.White Rabbit wrote:You are not given correct running costs when playing the US Set in OTTD
A separate NewGRF that just changes the rail running costs would work, however.
Generally a bug report is useful, as not everyone has time to read every thread...krtaylor wrote:Does the OTTD developer group know about this and consider it to be a bug worth fixing?
He's like, some kind of OpenTTD developer.

Whatever happened to this marvellous piece of art? Did it ever become something downloadable and usable?Oz wrote:Hey! Anyone wanna code a trestle? I have to tell you fellas, drawing this was nowhere near fun. In fact, it was a b**ch. I really like the higher bridge feature, but it plays hell with trying to draw bridges that look right. Comments, concerns, questions welcome.
Cheers!

i guess the "well then, get to work"-comment is redundant.

Hello all. Would it be OK if I edited the US Roads set? There are only 2 things I want to do; add sprites for one-way roads (replace the yellow lines with white ones), and reduce the amount of snow on the sidewalks for the snowy sprites. It's a law in most jurisdictions that snow must be removed from sidwalks within 24 hours of snow fall. It will make city centres look a little more lively.
If no-one protests to this, I'll do it. But is there a coder who wishes to volunteer for this tiny project? I am just assuming it's tiny as it requires little more than one-way sprites and codes being appended to the current grf.

Any work on the US set would be great! Oracle hasn't been seen in ages, and there really aren't a lot of coders volunteering for it, so it's been pretty much stalled for a long time.

Thanks for asking! A coder has volunteered (OzTransLtd, the good man that he is!), and I have everything in mind that I want to do. I just need to set a schedule with the coder, and then work will progress. I'd say expect nothing until after the Canadian Trains and Stations Sets are released.flasher86 wrote: lifeblood: how is being work on us roads

The right word, YETPikkaBird wrote:It's very nice, but sadly impossible to code, as it has different pier sections depending on the height and that's not possible yet.Born Acorn wrote:Whatever happened to this marvellous piece of art? Did it ever become something downloadable and usable?Oz wrote:
