[TTDP/OTTD] mtwist's screenshot thread

Post by mtwist »

After I have seen so many awesome screenhots in the last days I decided to start a new game:

Cllimate: Temperate
Start year: 1921
Terrain type: Hilly

The scenario itself is a made out of a random map with some adaptations like connecting the small lakes to big rivers and bays. Only a few industries exist in the early years. Of course TTRS3 is used aswell as DBSetXL (everybody is playing with UKRS in the last weeks so I will not :D ).

The company started service in Michelburg, a bigger town in the northern part of the map. Because of the good infrastructure the HQ is also located in Michelburg.

The first line feeds the local sawmill with lumber from a forest about one kilometer in the north of the town. Due to the short distance only one train is needed to transport all harvested lumber down to the sawmill. The year is 1921 so only the BR92 steamer is available. It hauls six low side wagons each with 15 tons capacity.

Because of the service contract with the local authorities Michelburg Transports also introduced a passenger service to connect Michelburg and the surrounding towns.

To get enough money for fast expanding a new coal line from Hanheim mines to Obermund power station was opened. Two trains are serving the mine station on a single track line.

Obermund also got a small passenger station to transport workers from Michelburg to Obermund.

In summer of 1922 there are two main passenger lines. Additional terminus lines connect some smaller towns to the network. Screenshot seven gives an overview:

Red: This was the first passenger line. It connects Michelburg and Schweinhausen passing Schweinfeld. Schweinfeld local authorities were very disappointed because no stop was built to service their town. So the company's managers decided to build a terminus line from Schweinhausen to Schweinfeld (Damn, those town names are really stupid...). This also prevents future express trains from being slowed down because of local trains stopping in Schweinfeld.

Yellow: The single track line from Michelburg to Brunfeld. This line goes via Brunsburg and Westerfeld. It will be double tracked in the next months. Plans for a bypass line near Brunsburg are already drawn.

Green and White: These are the terminus lines servicing smaller town around Michelburg.

Pink: The company's freight lines. The left one is the coal line, while the right one shows the lumber service.

mighty fine screenies.
Love the realism, especially the mail in boxcar.
Westerford has this lovely "Nebenbahn" atmosphere, well captured.

Very nice screenies, mtwist. The Irish already mentioned the realism, and I can only emphasize that. Well done, keep up the good work!
One after one, by the star-dogged Moon,
Too quick for groan or sigh,
Each turned his face with a ghastly pang,
And cursed me with his eye.

Really very nice realistic looking pics :D And those buildings from TTRS3 looks so great, I hope that the new houses branch for OTTD will merged with the trunk in a near future...

Keep up the good work :)

Thanks for your nice comments, I have some more screenshots.

As planned the line from Michelburg to Brunfeld was expanded to double tracks. In addition a tram service was introduced in Brunfeld to transport passengers from downtown to the central station. In contrast to Westerford station, which got an additional platform for the express service, Brunsburg got it's mentioned bypass.

After completion of the express line the company bought two trains hauled by BR75s. These steamers are much faster than their predecessor BR92. But due to a testing offer for the brand new BR38 tender locomotive, the BR75s were again replaced after a short time. To contain the loss, one BR75 was used to replace the BR92 of the regional service from Michelburg to Brunfeld via Brunsburg and Westerford.

..continued.

Westerford station was again reconstructed during the building of a new express line from Brunfeld to the southern city Michelmund. Two additional platforms were added. Hopefully Westerford will grow in the next years, so this station is not completely useless.

Like Brunfeld Michelmund got a tram line to transport the passengers to the main station lying off the town center.

Michelmund is also the beginning of a small branch line to Oberfeld on the other side of the bay. A BR75 haules the local train to Obermund terminus and stops on it's way in the villages Oberbrück, Brunsstadt and Limfeld.

Very Nice screenshots, looks to me like you need Pikka's viaducts, it replaces the wooden bridge with a brick viaduct and increases the speed of the bridge from 20mph (30km/h) to 80mph (128km/h) it can be found on GRFCrawler under the Infrastructure section.

Top Notch realism though, I like it!

Usually I am using the viaduct, but it is not working properly together with TTRS3 (at least not for the roads). So I decided to use the original bridges. But you are right, the trains are incredibly slow on the wooden bridges. Fortunatelly 1930 is near :D

Hate to break it to you but the TT Bridges don't appear until 1950, at least not the shorter ones anyway, although the concrete suspension bridge does, This may however be a problem with my game!

Are you sure? For me all bridges are available from 1930. I can remember that this changed compared to former times.

It's Pikka's viaduct graphics which alters the introdate of the other bridges.
without it, the other bridges are available in 1930.
