Sure is! The fastest narrow gauge train in the world! Would be fun on the narrow gauge tracks in Lomo!

What's the point in an uber-fast narrow gauge train, I mean, why didn't they build standard gauge if they really wanted to go fast?

I thought narrow gauges were only usually used for budgetary reasons or because of a shortage of space. To me it seems that nowadays there would be no real difference in cost between standard and narrow, when you take into account the versatility of standard gauge (i.e. it can be used almost anywhere on the country's network) and the number of existing standard gauge designs out there. And as for space, I didn't realise Australia was running out of space?

Having said all that, it looks fun though - 100mph on a track as wide as a surfboard.

Its narrow gauga because when the settlers first arrived in queensland, that was probably the guage that was most practical at the time.
If a modder does make the tilt train for narrow guage, they better make sure it can go around the corners at a faster speed than is currently possible,. because it might as well be wide guage :? Oh well, another rant.

Tilting units can already take corners faster, and offcourse you can edit the narrow gauge so the trans can go faster on corners too. (Subtile hint: The Robocars of Loewie13 if i am correctt)

But narrow guage doesn't have wide turns, which kinda sucks, also, I havent used the robot raicars yet. I think for the way loco works, it would be best if there were two versions made wide and narrow guage, so people have a choice

The purpose of the narrow gauge tilt was to have a high speed link between Cairns and Brisbane, a good 2300km or so. The line has been built since Qld first got inhabited back in the 1800's. Ripping it up and laying Standard gauge would be pointless as you would have to regauge all the freight trains and other passenger trains (Sunlander, Spirit of the Outback, etc).

Nothing wrong with narrow gauge! If it aint broke, dont fix it! We use it here in the state of Western Australia, although in the 1960's, we had the sense to lay Dual Gauge track instead of just sticking to the one gauge. Our newest DMU in WA can do up to 230kph on SGauge.

The Prospector/Avon Link services. Same train, just different branding names for different destinations. Sadly though it only does 170kph.

Actually, the Tilt Train is still the fastest train in the southern hemisphere, both trains can only do 160kph at the moment. When the Electric Tilt was being tested in 2003(??), it did a test on the Gold Coast line (flat, straight, brilliant track). The driver got permission to "drive by the seed of his pants" and it got up to 235kph! The crew were too scared to try getting any faster.

Engineers at EDI (Who built it) claim on paper it could have got to 260kph.
