[OPINIONS ASKED] What to do when noone reacts ?

Post by LocArny »

Hey, I have a question, and I would like your opinion about this topic.

When I send an e-mail to a MSTS modeler, and he doesn't react, am I obliged to convert his vehicles anyway ?

I know some converters do so. I don't (at least not till now), and that's the reason my French set is very small...

So I want your opinion,

Thanks :)

mmh you don't know why he doesn't answer? if there's a readme and there he forbidds something like converting his models i would stop that. if not, i would write an email, wait 6 weeks or so and then.. ...cancel the project or search for another model.

imho..
i did all models/renderings/textures myself. no conversions.

seelenquell.pytalhost.com has been reactivated from 16/07/28 till 18/05/31.. now it´s deactivated. at least there..

You're talking about Wayne Campbell, aren't you?

My advice is this. Start converting them, and once you're done, wait for a reply. If he doesn't respond in a week, assume he'll be fine with it. If he isn't, just remove the set.

I've had the same problem when I've tried to contact him.

EDIT: Wait a second, this is horrible advice. Disregard it.

My personal opinion and i'm sure the opinion of the majority i would hope would be that if you do not get a response then presume the answer is no.

Pemission is needed in order for a MSTS model to be re-skinned nevermind converted to another game.

To answer your question, no your not obliged to do anything at all, if you do not have permission then the model can only be for personal enjoyment as you would be going against the wishes of the original creator if you released without permission. Luckily most are fine with conversions.

We do not want a situation whereby people are converting and releasing without permission which may end the future permission to convert.

So to conclude :-

If no permission is obtained, then do not proceed with conversion and release.

I see your point. I just don't understand why someone would object.

They may be a perfectionist, or maybe just dont want other people messing with there creations.

Either way there decision is final, and a no response should be taken as no.

Oh on another note, if emailing someone try not to use a hotmail account as that may go straight to a spam bin

Its their choice - why can't they object if they don't want their models elsewhere?
