Out of boredom comes... The Toyland Renewal Set!!

Post by DanMacK »

Well, I was sitting here drawing for some of my various sets, but not really having much inspiration. I remembered Arte Pro's Toyland Enhancement set, but nothing's been done since then. You can argue the landscape gives you a headache, it's lame, too stupid, etc, but I think that Toyland, for just sheer escapism, has potential.

That said, I present the Toyland Renewal Set

Inspired by Arte Pro's graphics as well as TTD ones, below is the current proposal. No actual trains are implied, some more matching cars may be implemented as well as I may change the Toy boxcar to something else similar to the Maglev cars.

I know there are locos missing for the later years, I'm working on that :P

Here are the first sprites for the set. Some influences from Arte Pro were used on the Midget and the Mightymover

As I said... I was bored :P

Ha! This will be the most ridiculous .grf set in exsistance. As usual, your work is really good. Good enough that I just might be tempted to play a game or two in Toy Land. :D

Of course it will be, that's the point :P It will however allow for a serious game in toyland ;)

Ahaha!! This is wonderful!
I only miss something in those sprites: 2CC
Pikkabird's UK renewal set used them so nicely, and now that we can have different colors for each type of vehicle it looks very nice.

This is quite nice.. but I only have one suggestion....

Multiple units, then this set would really ROCK!

Same here. I think I might have a fiddle with it...

Funny idea this, but maybe toyland is getting it's chance to shine!

What? Does the DanMacK not have enough on his plate already!?
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Hey, there was long ago a replacement for the horrible Toyland checkerboard. I've got it in my archives. Here you go:

Absolutely agree, but those vehicles are REALLY good!
Born Acorn wrote:Renew the Toyland landscape to something less eye-bleeding! :P
Agreed. Only with more normal landscape those vehicles will have sence, otherwise many people still won't play it!
Anyway, good luck. It promises good. :)

Looks awesome! :)
This just might make me want to pick up playing of Toyland again..I like the early steamers, and the Electroliner LL1 in particicular! :D

The Ploddyphut Diesel needs some more colours though.

Are you gona do anything else besides the trains, like loading platforms for toffee or such? :)

And finally the last guestion, are you gona change the way diesel smoke looks, something more toylandish?

And a suggestion, maybe add a candybar flatbed, or something similar?

I'm planning some more variants on the freight cars (such as a flatcar carrying candy, toys, etc, tanker carrying candy (syrup :P) etc.

Thnaks for the landscape krtaylor, it definitely helps :D

As far as 2CC goes, I'm definitely planning it, was just unsure where to put it. The Ploddyphut Diesel will have it definitely, along with most of the others. Update sometime today
