What map size do you prefer?

Post by Wold »

Just played 2048x2048.. it's so damn huge :] Would never be able to connect all..
512x512 is fine, but still enormous.

What maps do you play on?

64x64 purchased land rules :]
128x128 rather small but
256x256 I think this is the normal, widely spread by being the original one
512x512 growing bigger
1024x1024
2048x2048 Everything you want

I voted for 512*512, but i think the best mapsize is 256*512 or
a really long map for instance 128*1024.

best map for me is 1024x256
nicley huge in one direction but smaller in another so you can get some nice coast to coast intercities :)
experiment, its fun :)

Wold I think your avatar shows nudity

I like 256x256 because I want to create a mega network and try new layouts out and junctions.

For normal play I go for 512x512 or 1024x1024 but 512x512 is good.

I voted for 512x512 as that is what I'm playing mostly. I also wonder why we can't vote for non-square maps as I also play 256x1024 sometimes (mostly on the #openttdcoop sandbox).

For testing TGP, I now have to use 2048x2048, as it does it so quick I cant read the progress on smaller sizes!!! (2048x2048 takes 12 secs from "go" to "play" on my average machine :) )

There are times when JPG is useful, TTD screenshots is not one of them. Please use PNG instead.

I also like 2048*64. You get an enourmous mainline that everything is connected to.

256x256 is still how I play even with OTTD - (don't die of shock, I do use it occasionally).

It's safe and comfortable for me (I suffer from issues related to OCD), because it's "standard". Thus I don't feel vulnerable when playing it. Tis also the reason why I've never shown up on multiplayer. That and my laptop ping goes tits up.

i voted for 512x512 but i play mainly with 256x1024 or 1024x256 expecially with terrain generated with TGP (MiniIN) because give some good terrain variability and space for mainlines

I usually do 256*512 maps. Big enough for multiplayer, tho not too big so different players will not see each others networks.

2048x2048, things tend to last long and you've always got something to connect.

512x512 is my preferred size. 256x256 is a tad too small, and the other sizes are just huge!

Perhaps I'll try a non-square map sometime.

64x64. Nah, joke :P .
I like 512x512. Not so small, not so large. Also 1024x256 or 256x1024 (I can't see differences between them :?) are good but there isn't a option for it, so I don't vote for them :P.
