[REL] Tayside Scenario

Post by Kevo00 »

Hi guys. I have prepared a short FAQ to explain this scenario.

Where is the map?

This is a map of the Tayside area in Eastern Scotland. Dundee is the main city in the centre of the map, with the Firth of Tay presenting a bit of a natural barrier. The map includes much of the counties of Angus and Perthshire, and some of Fife. It also has Hamburg in Germany to give you somewhere to sail to.

What is the aim?

The map starts in 1900 and is intended to be an open ended game - you just have to be the biggest company and get 90% eventually. It is a bit of free for all, as it has full competition and everyone can build everything, but that is intended as it is how Scottish railway history really was.

What is the character of the map?

The industry of the map is roughly based on the industries in the region. Chemicals replace textiles but otherwise it is fairly faithful except for the lack of a fishing industry, with arable farming (which is fruit farming in real life but close) and some livestock, some paper production and journalism and some coal mining in Fife. The industry is a little unbalanced but this creates a flurry of industry being generated at the start of the game, giving the map a random character, so no two games will be the same.

Do I need any mods?

Nope. This version is without mods, but I would reccommend adding the Scotrail trains from the BR Set and the Maglevs from the NS set. Otherwise mod to taste if you like.

Can I edit the scenario?

Of course, be my guest, if you like to set it later than 1900 or add new aims or play as a monopolist etc., that is fine with me.

What else should I do?

Play the map and have fun! Feedback welcome at kevo00@yahoo.com.

Hi guys,

Thanks for compliment MajorDuck, am glad you enjoyed the map. :)

Will put some screenies up tommorrow once I can convert them from the game's bmp format.

Am thinking of making a map of County Durham/North East England when I get the time, but no definite promises yet!

Some screenies, not wanting to spoil your discovery of the map too much!
