What's the current status?
We had a small resurrection earlier. I'm actually quite interested in what the current status of Transport Empire is. It would be nice if everyone who committed himself to Transport Empire can inform the others on the status of tasks that were assigned to him her during the last meeting.
AFAIK, I did have not any tasks, so I did nothing, FYI.

I drop in here once every 2 months. Not enough to really help the project, I know. However, those times I do drop by, I always feel the urge to start working on it again.
For somebody to be really involved in this, it has to be about something that really interests the coder. And I don't mean "hey we all love trains". I, for example, liked to experiment with full-freeform track, so I built a (2D, java) prototype for it. If some starting code is availbla for the project, I'd likely be interested to implement that again in 3D. Somebody else might be really interested in a clever signaling system and implement that. However, seems like nobody has free time to code the core-game.

Just an update from my side:
I've been working on a registration system. In an example scenario, it works like this:
I'll commit this to the CVS in a few minutes...
Edit:
The description of the screenshot should say:
"As you can see in the screenshot, only the tiles in the registered area are updated. This should save a lot of bandwidth."
I've been working on a registration system. In an example scenario, it works like this:
- A player is looking at a piece of the map. The client application reports this to the server. In the example, we're looking at tiles (0, 0) through (15, 15).
- Something changes in a tile in the registered area
- The server sends an update of the changed tile to the client.
I'll commit this to the CVS in a few minutes...

- The registration system in action.
The client has registered for the area between tiles (0,0) and (15,15).
Once every 100 cycles, the server randomly changes one tile. (All heights were either 0 or 1. The new height is 2)
