[Request]ATC Signal
Who can develop this kind of signal that enginer get the information on the train such as TVM or ATC(Automatic Train Control)?
My idea is to change the *.png in dat files so that it appears in the game as a white box on ground or something like that. But when I do it myself, I failed. So hope someone can do it for me.
By develop this kind of signal, I can place the signal one by one so that faster trains can run after the slow train as the low speed and don't need to stop.
I 'm sorry that my english is not so good, hope you all can understand.

I think this is a very good idea, just hope that some will make it, cause i cant.

My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)

This wouldn't be of much use, if you have over 300 trains in the game.
What train you have to choose?
The game works with this kind of system already.
It looks fore ward about 50 tiles.
If a train passes a yellow signal it brakes till the next signal gives a better appearance.
After that the train will accelerate again.
In Holland we use the ATB (Automatische Train Beinvloeding) Automatic Train Influence system.
It can show the allowed speed on the track, with the following steps for max speeds allowed in km\h.
40(The minimum Also to-wards a red signal and even through it), 60 , 80 130 and 140 (nd over.)
When the signal outside changes, the appropriate speed is lit and a chime sounds.
If you don't brake within a few second an other bell rings.
If you still don't react, the train start an emergency brake till it stands still.
Only than i can reset it and eventually can drive further.
If you have to brake till a lower speed , say from 130 to 80 , you get a chime signal at 85 so that you can release the brakes.
When they are released you speed will show 80 km\h
If you drive under yellow(40) to wards a red signal every 20 seconds an other buzzer goes of, on what you have to react with the dead-mans knob.
So you see it will be a very noisy game if someone could implement this.

Sounds similiar to TPWS, the main signal protection equipment in this country {which took over from AWS in about 2002}.
I don't know A LOT about it but i believe it stops you speeding and restricts you speed towards danger signals.
My main involvement with it was that it restricts a trains speed to 5mph or 10mph into a dead end platform {all terminus platforms were intiially 5mph but a program to increase them to 10mph was introduced}

Nonono...I know the system what you said is really noisy but it goes to the opposite to mine. I mean that use the original signal system, and do no work on the new element(I don't know if I use the correct word) of the signal. I want to use the original signal to make the effect.chevyrider wrote:This wouldn't be of much use, if you have over 300 trains in the game.

Like this

See, TGV can run after Class 20 by 94-96-98-96 km/h, the railway is divided into several parts. What I need is to change the *.png like a white box lying on the ground. So many "sticks" standing beside the rail as the picture shows is too silly...

I think you mean that the train has to react on the color of the signals in the game.
As far as i know this isn't the fact.
The train only reacts on a red signal and drives with a speed with which he can stop to that signal in time.
So the only thing measured here is the distance the train needs to decelerate to stop for red.
All other signals including yellow and double yellow are cosmetic.

Yes I know. What the pic showed is my idea. In fact, what I need even show no color lights. And what I need is simply something instead of the signal "sticks".chevyrider wrote:I think you mean that the train has to react on the color of the signals in the game.

ATC Signal
OK, you made me try this out. I edited all 55 files to show a small white box, but my editing program must have changed the value of the background, because the blue colour is now visible in-game. If i use the program to make this invisible, then locotool will not accept the files. I will keep trying, but does anyone have an idea how i can sort this out without shelling out £3500 for 3d Studio Max? If so, and this works, I would definately start on other stuff for the game.
when the blue is now visible check if the palette of the file is still PNG 8 Bit if not, the blue will show because of the wrong palette
and if you dont wanna invest into 3dsmax just use blender http://www.blender.org

but what would be the benefit of ATC?
The way the line in the picture has been signalled, is under what would be now called the 'Moving Block' system, which is far superior to ATC.
I mean when the Victoria Line is resignalled, the ATC equipment will be removed and replaced with the Radio Moving Block signalling technology. So isn't it a step backwards in signalling technology...? lol,

What a_line is looking for here is really cosmetic. He wants no visible signal on the map, therefore creating the image of what we (in the U.S.) call cab signalling, where the engineer (driver) sees the signals in the operating cab of the train.

That's what it sounds like he wants, at least to me. The purpose of the "boxes" alongside the track would be so that he would know exactly where he placed these cab signalling (invisible) signals.

Now i see what a_lin007 means.
The fast train behind a slow one has to run with the same average speed as the slow one in front.
Also a continues slow speed, instead of running at top speed, stopping totally and running top speed again.
Yes this could give a more realistic view.
Irl, i drive also as described above.
eg. I catch up an all station train with my intercity train.
Normal speed is about 140 km\h.
When i see at the yellow signals in the distance that i catch up an all station train, which is delayed, i brake a little, so depending the track and the total amount of stations the train in front of me has to stop, i can drive with an average speed of let's say 80 km\h.
This is more convenient for the passengers, and i don't have to announce through the onboard speakers why we aren't moving.
As long as i drive, nobody gets worried.
