TTDLX in Hasbro's "Tycoon collection"
TTDLX in Hasbro's "Tycoon collection"
Hi!
I have a few questions regarding TTDLX in Hasbro's "Tycoon
Collection". First, is it the proper, latest version of
TTDLX, rather than just an ehanced version of the original
with the scenario editor bolted on?
Secondly, is it a native Win32 app, rather than the DOS-based
version which I have currently? I only ask because ideally
I'd like to play it under Win 2000 (yes, I know!!).
Thanks!
-Mike [http://games.hplx.net]
P.S. A big "Thank you!" to all the hard-working TT site
owners out there for the excellent sites, and Josef for his
simply amazing patch!

Re: TTDLX in Hasbro's "Tycoon collection"
Hi,
The version is a WIN32 version, it uses DirectX 2, but runs with DirectX 7.0
fine. It does not run on pure DOS.
It was a conversion by FISH (UK) LTD. Who helped Sawyer on RCT.

So I wonder if this means it will work better with the SB sound cards.....The version is a WIN32 version

Re: TTDLX in Hasbro's "Tycoon collection"
I have an SB Live! value and it doesn't seem to work at all for me. How
bizarre. RCT works fine and always has.
The game launcher gives four options, No Midi, General Midi, FM
Synth/SoundBlaster, and SoundBlaster AWE32. Tried them all, none work.
Damn.

Re: TTDLX in Hasbro's "Tycoon collection"
This is a known problem - and boils down to the SB16 emulation.
There is a patch for it on the Creative website.
Tycoon also only really likes IRQ 5 ... so make sure your card is hard set
to this (yes, I know Tycoon allows other settings!!)
This may (or may not) help!!

Windows, but as the other posts say, it's not true about the
memory / IRQ stuff. Plus, while the Microsoft monopoly might
not be great for all things, at least it ensures that
programs are more or less consistent, and generally far easier
to use (if not always quicker) than their DOS counterparts.
