Someone had a thread about this, and I was wondering what the website for
the program was?

That reminds me. I got this... I'm still trying to figure out where the 'great
railroad sim' is... this seemed rather mediocre even compared to Railroad
Tycoon, the original. And NOT just because it was all in German... it was
nearly impossible to build split tracks... and the way you laid track was
just... odd... I didn't like it, really.

BTW, I noticed in your e-mail address... what does 'Pscho' mean? Is that
anything like 'Psycho'?

I believe it's meant to help recreate real life layouts as well as model
train setups.

No, but I'm often corrected by people saying I spelled it wrong =0

If you download the program, remember that at first it'll seem really old
fashioned and basic, but with a little perseverance it becomes an
exceptionally powerful and accurate network simulation. The basic graphics
help it to run fast.

You can in Bahn 3.58, it's just complicated.

I know this software, too. I deleted it from my harddisk after 20
minutes.
The reason for this program to be so well-liked is the lack of
concurrency. You can build up very large cities and you can build
TRAMS! And there is no other program that can do this yet. The people
use it to build their home cities including the detailed traffic
network.

BTW, what are "split tracks"???

Split tracks. When tracks go forward and the they branch off to the left or the
right so it looks like this:

Wow... I NEVER thought I'd have that much of a problem with the term 'split
tracks'.

Re: Bahn 3.58

Well I haven't deleted it from my hard drive but I agree it is a real
labour of love to build up a complex network. Probably the main
attraction is that it runs in speeded up real time rather than the
virtual time of TTDLX or RRT2. Setting up the network is very similar to
programming a real railway service (of which I have had some experience)
in that for each route you have to calculate the number of trains to
maintain each departure from either end of the line (i.e. similar to a
rolling stock diagram).
Setting up a working signalling system is also quite a challenge.
The downside is the (very) primitive graphics, no 3D view, no
geographical relief and not even simple sound effects. When I first
registered the programme I asked Jan Bochmann what the chance of a more
TT version would be, but the reply was 'very unlikely.'
By split tracks, I presume you mean tracks on more than one level. It is
sort of possible by using bridges or tunnels to pass one track over
another but the crude 2D graphics give no impression of height or grade.

Oh, this is intersting. Steve's definition is apart from this.
In my imagination split tracks are when you placed a bomb on the
railroad.

Indeed, I saw tunnels going under other tracks but it was impossible to
tell where the height difference was.

Switches are the things in train yards that switch trains from different
tracks.

Split tracks are ones where they go someplace else. Heading east from
California, you'd get a split trick that goes to Minnesota and to Louisiana.

In that case, the switch is what switches the split track itself.

Light at the end of the tunnel.

Split Tracks = Branches
Switches = Points
