Snail mail is definitely the next step ... although Avasts does have a technical team assigned to the forums.

Well the most creator of Antivirus and Trojan remover Software tend simple ignore false positive because otherwise they have to use man power for fixing it without getting any better statistics.

I hope Avast will show us the right way, more quality then quantity...

Post by Mr.Killer »

Hi everybody....

Pulled me over the line, got registered, because of nice game.

Just wondered about the virusscanner.... Why not use another virusscanner?
Bla bla, and may the force be with you!
Never knew I was gonna say that! ;-)

This is always an option but some of us like Avast and this issue is unique so we just set our Avast scanners to ignore the file in question.
False positives are an issue with any scanner.
In this case it just happens to be Avast and ttpatchw.exe ... afik other scanners are not affected.
False positives found on another scanner for another file would probably not provoke a response from Avast, so if you like that scanner, you just set that scanner to deal with that issue, rather than swith to Avast or another scanner.
Also, Avast for Linux likes ttpatchw.exe, so you could always switch O/S

Same virusscanner problem

Post by Mr.Killer »

You are right about the OS, however, i had about 6 or 7 years ago the same thing with various scanners deleting files who had no virus. I'm now very content with McAfee, as well on my servers as my workstations.
Maybe dl an older version for starters? Mine is version 4.5.1 and version 7.
Well, i'm glad not having any of those problems since i changed....

FIXED!

Post by wallyweb »

It's been fixed. :D

I just ran Avast's latest Vps update on ttdpatchw.exe, versions 49, 50 and 51 and all are clean.

Avast responded positively!

Thank you Avast.

Just when I added a notice to ttdpatch.net...

Oh well, I'll remove the notice and unsticky this topic then, thanks for letting me know.

Maybe not so fast just in case some poor fool out there hasn't set his Avast to auto-update. :D

Keep the notice with the advice in loud block letters TO:

"UPDATE YOUR VPS PROFILES"
