0.4.0 Problems

Post by Samurai »

I don't know about anyone else but I'm going back to 0.3.6

Every server i'm joining now is have MANY users getting d/c by desync errors including myself. That last server I just played, I was d/c roughly 10 times in 30 minutes it's horrible. This never happened with the previous problem and like I said, this is happening with EVERY server I join that's hosting 0.4.0.

Sorry guys, I'm reverting back until this is fixed :(

So it's not a problem of my server, well that's somewhat good news. :D

What's your server name then?

If this is the case I'm only playing in yours

My hosted games are always called something like "Purno's Game". Should be easy to discover if I'm the host

What's your username on OTTD?

Nopes, you're not on my list, I never had you on my server.

I'm getting "game desynchronisation" error on most servers, too.
I've posted before, it'd be nice if someone change behavior of server vs lagged clients: freeze instead of dropping (disconnecting)

Are you guys sure you are using the same newgrf settings as the server? I know it is a pita cause you don't know what the server uses but they have to match exactly otherwise it is no wonder you are desyncing.

Hi!

Sorry for complaining in my first post on the forum...
I experience the same problem. I don't use any newgrf so if that is the cause, all servers do.
I haven't been playing on many servers since 0.4.0. was launched so I can't make a proper statistical analysis (not as if I could anyway  ), but it seems to me that I get into desync with large map servers more often.
For example I desynced about 10 times in a row on raingroove#2 (1024*1024) while on Purno's (512*512) i had less events.

I have maybe DCed a total of 6 times over 30+ hours. I'm happy with this new patch so far. No problems for me at all. :)

I have played for an hour on a dedicated server (512x512) map with two other people and there was not a single desync. About two 'connection lost' thingies and that's it.

I had a few connection losses in purno's game but only when I was screwing up the map with singapore kid big time  and traveling around the map really fast. Otherwise none.

Had more problems with desyncs in 0.36 :)

I'm waiting on ShadowUser and raingrove to post here as raingrove literally had to close his server down due to us all being desynced roughly 5 times in 10 minutes.

frequent desyncs seem to be gone now that i have reduced the size of the map from 1024x1024 to 256x1024

Last night the dev's were looking into what is causing the desyncs, but I don't think anything has turned up yet.

So I shall remove all additional newgrfs from my config file (assuming server is pure - nothing more to OTTD 0.4.0)?

Exactly MeusH. Could you also post what GRFs you are using, and whether removing them help?
