Redoing Taming the Swiss

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. Purno;

A while back you asked if there were any scenarios with mountians, etc.
Well, I've had "Taming the Swiss" out for about a year. Now, since then
we've got some new "Toys", er, I mean new tools. So, now I'm redoing
this very fine mountian scenario. It will be called "Awesome Alps".

Mr. Sharow-XIII was kind enough to inform me about Ctrl and 'stone' for
new buildings. And, some kind genius came up with hold down mouse and
drag to clear quickly, now I'm inspired to take out those"use roads
for RR tracks" and modify the cities more perfectly and we have a
remodeled "Taming the Swiss". Thus still yet another scenario with lots of
mountains. :wink:

"Awesome Alps" should be out pretty soon. Look for it.

Always,
Jim Powers :]

It's about making this topic sticky, which means it would be displayed at the top of the first page in this forum.

Dear TT-Forums Friends;

Thanks for thinking about making my 'Topic' a sticky.
I just didn't know what it was. (I must be real stupid.)
Anyway, Mr. Rudge has been so kind to allow me space, and
I'm indebted to him for helping me so tremendously getting
my scenarios to you all. So, look for some new ones soon. OK?

Newest Scenario "Awesome Alps"

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear TT-Forums Family;

This it is my very latest scenario called "Awesome Alps"!

Coal is the main revenue for this scenario. It is in the temperate mode.
Mr. Blunck's fantastic trains will come in handy for the tremenduos
amount of mountains and the 'art' of getting the coal out of there. There
are, of course, forests and for food, farms to supply a lot of cities, though
just a few are very large. But, I built in connecting roads. A lot of work
went into this one. I was going to redo "Taming the Swiss", but wound up
revamping the whole scenario, for your maximum pleasure.
OK All Aboard! Lets go get that coal, what you say? :wink:

Here is "Awesome Alps". :shock:

Jim Powers

Jim,
Mate, your maps are stunningly beutiful for TTD and they make me wonder how you make the citys so exact

I was wondering how you did the "drag and drob buldozing" and the "cntrl stone building making". They would help me A LOT :P

I "completed" your extreame city's scenario but the population drops veery fast... dont know why...?

Anyways if you could tell me if it was just in DOS version or whatever that you could drag n drop etc...

Mr. Rylix;

I'm glad to see you appreciate my scenarios, Sir. I sure have a blast
making them. It kinda takes me away from the country where I'm
residing, though I'd love to be back home in America. Circumstances
prevent this, so, I 'escape' with TTD scenarios. I've got a list of requests
to make various kinds and countries, so, it looks like that I'll be making
some more for a while at least.

"Extreme Cities" is by far my most popular scenario, with over 1,800 downloads.
I don't really know why it is so popular? Anyway, building 'erosion' is the cause.
Some of the guys are working to correct this, meanwhile, I tell the fellows
just to bulldoze the vacate roads and put in industries. This way they can
still make money. I also will go to the editor, and add a city to an existing
city where it's been abandoned, i.e. Houston, add Houston South...... :?

I'm just a "regular", Mr. Rylix, so I didn't invent The drag dozer, but I love
it. and also Mr. Shadow XIII showed the 'Stone' building with the latest
alpha. Theses two things makes scenarios even more fun to make. My
special THANKS to the guys who invented them, may God bless you!

As for the cities, eh, I guess I got a little talent, ya think? :wink:

Yes, you do have a talent. i donwloaded the new patch and i now get the "know how" of the tools, so mayb in the distant furture i will start making maps. Btw, mayb you should make a forum topic just for the savegames so we can find them easier/easily without comments etc. And comment in this forum.

I downloaded "Lumber Jack" and I must say it's one of the most challenging and beautiful scenarios I've played. I backdated it to 1921 so I could "begin at the beginning" so to speak, but trying to build rail lines through those mountains is a genuine challenge. I'm enjoying every minute of it!

You can see my progress on this scenario in the "Pictures of your games" thread. Excellent scanario Jim!

Beautiful Pictures

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. DanMacK;

I looked at your most realistic and beautiful pictures. I loved the way
you projected your railroad history along with your uniquie pictures.
Good Job! Sir, I'm proud to be a small part of it. "Lumber Jack" is
really, really a challenging scenario indeed. What fun!

Crashing Scenario

Post by Jim Powers »

Mr. Weirdy;

Sure sorry about your PC crashing. I've not anyone else complain.
So, I don't know what to do about it. Seems odd that it'd crash because
of the scenario. Are you using the US set trains? I was still using them
when I made "Awesome Alps". Michael Blunck's DB set should be used here,
instead. Check to see what grf files are priority in your configurator.
I hope this solves your 'crash' problem.

Industrial Zone

Post by Jim Powers »

Dear TT-Forums Members;

I created a scenario about 3 years ago and I really liked playing it.
but, never made it available until now. And now, with the new features,
I've revamped it and it will be fun, a lot of fun. It has several large cities
witha place for El Rails! Yes, El Rails. Also It features a 'cross' RR expressway
that will move your industrial produces to market presto! It's called "Industrial Zone".
Definitely made the USA. ......... Texas, no less. I suggest that you use
Mr. Krtaylor's US SET Trains for this scenario. And use your global map
to see where I suggested the El Rails would best be placed.

The theme is, of course, Industry!

Here is "Industrial Zone". Now go out there and have some fun!. :lol:

Dear Jim Powers,

Purno, if it's originally intended for use with the DB set (which it appears to be), temperate makes more sense ;)
