The Big Blow is about as big as a TTD loco can be, isn't it? The TOFC cars are too high, is the trouble. The TTD scale is somewhat awkward to work with, for sure.

I know, but somehow, it still doesn't seem right. If I compare it with the Big Boy, or the F7, then I think the Big Blow is too small.
But maybe it's just me.
I'm looking forward the next release anyways.

I suppose it could be made maybe 1 pixel higher without getting too far out of proportion. The problem is that TTD locos are necessarily stubby anyway, because their squares are too short.

wow! there are no words! amazing work!Oz wrote:Hi all! Dan, those trains are looking great as usual. Nice to see the MBTA get a little work done. I get to see those guys chugging down the line just about every day. IF the tram idea ever gets off of the ground, it would be great to see some of the "T" trolleys of the Green Line.
Been working on the GCT a bit. Wanted to let you guys take a look, and feedback would be greatly appreciated as always.
Cheers!

EDIT: There was supposed to be a GCT image in that quote, but hey: Doesn't look like it turned up. Nevermind, you get the idea
DOUBLE EDIT: Corrected spellings
TRIPLE EDIT: Modified spacing
It hasn't been tested with MB's stations, because neither of them have been released in a GRF file yet.
I would expect that GCT would be resizable, in several ways. Of course there would be a minimum size, but up to a point I think it can be designed so the building stretches, by adding additional pieces in the middle.
For stations beyond that maximum stretch size, there will be platform covers that extend out the back. Of course the real GCT has all the platforms underground, but that wouldn't be easy to replicate in TTD.
It would be possible to have normal-looking office buildings that appear on top of the excess platform length instead, with the tracks simply entering via tunnel portals beneath the farthest ones. That would even be realistic, except of course that the buildings would be fake (they'd be a station graphic) and wouldn't produce anything, even though they'd look like they should.

Here's a comparison of a scale UP Gas Turbine and a TOFC, Double stack and a Hi-Cube. The TOFC cars are slightly higher than the turbine.
Most TOFC flats hold 2 trailers, but for it to look right compared to George's trucks, I had to make some concessions, and even then the trailer is a bit small. The trains aren't "Exactly" to scale, and the TOFC car IS a bit large. my thoughts are however to leave it as-is. It's not very obtrusive, and overall looks good.

For an alternate "Big City" station so the map isn't populated with tons of GCT's, might I suggest Detroit's Michigan Central Station?

We'd always planned to have more. We want the LA Union Station, and Cincinnati's Union Station. Your MCT would be a great addition too, but you've got so much on your plate already... I'll add that to the list I suppose.

Hey... I didn't say 'I'D' draw it... was merely throwing the suggestion out there for the more talented building designers

Dan, I think you need a publicly-posted To-Do list, like Patchman has.

krtaylor... I think mine would be longer than his... Doesn't help I keep adding to it, both from stuff I want to add, and stuff you and everyone else wants added
Oh, BTW... why isn't my Hi-cube reefer in this version? It should be a new higher capacity car for food and fruit after 1980 (if possible).
Also, the refitted food capacity of a double-stack car is only 27T

On another note... heres the current progress on the Interurban cars.
The top 2 (wooden) are one car. One's a refit for mail/goods/food, one's for passengers
Third is the in-progress steel car interurban coach. This may also be available as an "express motor" variant. I've also got a coach override livery for both, as well as a mail/boxcar override scheme for an express trailer.
The fourth is the steeplecab (still needs the remainder of the trolley ples installed)
I'm hoping these will take up 3 ID's in all 3 climates, four if we decide to add an Electroliner (which I still can't get to look right)

A small complaint - I think the positioning of the PA-1 is off. It seems to be set too far back, so it conflicts with part of the first car immediately behind it - or more accurately, the first car covers part of the PA-1, making it look even more unnaturally short than it already is.

Well, I'm working a bit on the PA sprite, and which one is "off"? If it's that sickly blue and grey thing, it'll be gone by the next release (I hope, if I can get my ass in gear and finish the NYC PA's)

Yes, it's the blue-and-grey. And I thought you were supposed to get D&RGW in the Arctic, but you don't.

I've managed to get it in Arctic along with the blue one. Uzurpator wants me to fix the positioning and meshing of the PA anyway, which I'm currently doing. I'll post the revised sprites when I get home.

Merida & Tena RR wanted to replace its aging fleet of Centennials. So it asked EMD to build something - but EMD said FU. Then thay asked GE - and GE replied "Yeah - we have a few of those stashed, but nothing more I'm afraid... unless you want to electrify..."

And that isn't a perfectly adequate loco?
I thought we were going to add another diesel in there anyway though.
