Ok, as promised in the pictures treath, the savegame and scenarion of the Hawk River Central game.

Stronly recommended to use the US-Set hand have townbuildnoroads on, in order to keep the towns nice and small.
Idea is to build one or more routes accross the mountains, without having a too steep grade. in my game, I go one level up only every ten tiles or so.

It's quite a challenge to make money, as trains are on their way pretty long to reach destination. In my game, I nearly went bust, twenty years after the start and with a well established network.

But anyways, long speech, small sense. just see for your-self.

hey people, i am back from a chritian event ( ) and have had new entusiasm to create a map, i called it Riverland, don't ask why. here it is............

The story:- The mountain with power plants was formed as the continental plate moved across a boundary, the mountains formed as the plate was squished, the crater was formed 5.648 million years ago by a meteor, and the hills where always there. (The power plants were placed there to minimise the pollution to nearby towns.)

So a little while back I had an idea on a scenario that would be cool. What if you took Zimmlocks One Junction map, and make each of the four sections a different sort of theme. It would then give a different challenge for each of the industries. I mentioned the idea to DanMacK and got....well nothing. So I decided, "Why not do it myself." I then thought "You have never tried making a scenario before, it will probably suck". So I told my brain to get lost and done it anyway.

So I present what I call One Junction - The Four Ways. The four areas are Mountains & Valleys, Islands, Flatlands, and Hills & Rivers. I see each area is varying degrees of difficulty of playing in. But in the end you have to play in to either of the two hard ones because that where the goods making industries are(the factory in mountains, the sawmill in islands).

Couple of simple rules, don't destroy the transmitters using flooding or the scenario editor. Only use the 4 secondary industries that are already placed, so don't use any generated by the game. And the scenario does start at 1921, but you don't have to play from there as it ain't to easy at that point.

Some images:
The map
The Factory
The Powerplant.

Have fun(I hope.)

My first scenario

Post by gmyx »

I present to you my first scenario:

It's called "Mega Industries" - You'll see why. There is only one receiver for each industry type. North-West, except Iron Ore who is on an island. The Mega Industries are from South-West to South-East. While making money is not very hard - having a good system might me very hard, especially if you send goods to the only "Big" town - which is the only town to accept good at the beginning of the game. There is one river with two main islands and near the river there is a mountain range that stretches from one side to the other forking in the middle. There are many town and may roads, so it's also a good passenger/mail scenario. My goal for this scenario was not to make it hard to make money, but to make it hard to have a efficient system.

Enjoy and any feedback is appreciated.

Here's the "Archipelago" map mentioned in the screenshots thread. The USSet works well here, as does Newships and George's Long Vehicles.

Enjoy! :D

Here's my Majestic Bay arctic scenario which I hope people will find interesting. I suppose you could call it a semi-long map as it is arranged around three sides of the map with the intention that you run trains over the mountains from Wrung Out Bay to Endville.

Included in the zip are my ttdpatch.cfg and newgrf.cfg files in case you want to use them. I'd love to see what other people do with this map!

Hi everybody,

I have created a lovely little scenario for the temperate climate.
It's called "The Bay". It is partly inspired by Dublin Bay, but it has nothing to do with it really.
It has a long coastline with little villages along it, which will need commuter service into the bigger towns on both sides of the river.

This map is great for commuter service but will also give you some chance to set up express services to the further away towns.

of course there is also plenty of industries and the river and the little Island in the bay will give you a good reason to use some ships as well.

May I propose to use Pikkabirds faboulous Stone viaduct grf, so you will see it in the middle of the central town crossing the river, rather then a wooden trestle.

I have included the scenario starting in 1930 in order to have some RVs from the start. I also included my savegame in 1931, which I have started in 1921 on the previous version of the map, so you will see slight changes, but nothing too big.

I hope you will enjoy this map.
Any feedback welcome.

I was about to post this game a few days ago but the forum went down and I didn't have any time afterwards. This is my Majestic Bay savegame on cornelius' map, a few years later than the pictures I've posted in the other thread. I'm trying to play a bit more realistically than I often do.

It's a US Set game, using US Set Stations, PGS, NewStations and the American vehicles.

Here is a scenario designed for the Alpine climate test.

Now, Alpine climate test is required, The TTRS Climate hack is VERY MUCH REQUIRED, and DBSetXL 8.2 is a very good idea (Dependant on Alpine climate anyway).

You can substitute the DBSet and Alpine climate with the USSet and other tile replacers, but since the towns have German names (Or atleast *should*), DBSet is reccomended.

TTRS climate hack is in my sig btw.

Now, this is a bit of a longmap. It has some longmap concepts, but overall its a combination of longish islands that snake around like a longmap. But, yeah. Just havea look and see.

Oh, the sign advertisements at the bottom are wrong, ignore/delete them. The map was originally a temperate map, But I re-worked the absolute crap out of it for Alpine climate.

Hi everybody.

I have made an attemp to build a new version of the longmap, originally created by Zimmlock (I think). It's completely made from scratch and this time its for the Temperate climate.

I hope you will enjoy it.
Any feedback welcome.

SAVEGAME!

*Leaves again*

Seriously, as requested, here is my Mid-Central Rails savegame. A really fun scenario, I strongly suggest giving it a go sometime. The only reason I am giving up, is my previously-flawless network has started to fall apart, with vehicles getting old, and some-previously-well-behaved-trains getting lose, etc.

Have a lookie :)).

DanMacK made the map.

I played the game.

It's DanMacK's Arctic Longmap, and it was a ripper of a map to play on. As good as Jim's Mid Central Rails! (See, now you *know* it is a good map).

Must be using the US Set to play it. I have a new newgrf, and ttdpatch config. The only new switch you will need on is the co-op rails feature, as there are two AI companies using my tracks.

*Raichase looks around*

Am I the only one posting in this thread these days?

As promised, here is my scenario - Tropical Paradise. It is designed along the lines of a longmap, but don't feel pressured to play it like that if you don't want to. Bridge the wide water, have ships cross it if you like!

Thanks for DanMacK for the inspiration, as well as all my friends from IRC who helped with the names. Owen, Born Acorn, Akalamanaia and SingaporeKid - part of you is in this map (the town names were suggested by you, I didn't actually put you in the map, because you might get hit by a stray train).

It's long-map esque, but as all the town names are quite silly, it isn't meant to be a straight map. It's a funny looking island/group of islands in a curve shape. Thats why all the corners have "curve related names" (thats a technical term).

I hope to see you lot enjoying it and posting in the pictures thread!

Disclaimer - I suggest using Pikkabirds Viaduct graphics when playing this map, as I have used it in the creation of the map, and I don't know what effects you will get with it turned off.

Climate: Sub-Tropical
Year: 1921
Terrain: Mostly flat, narrow corridors with towns and industries following the highway. Very little desert, a lot of trees. Some mountainous areas, but not too many.

My new map. It is longmap-style and especially designed for the use with DBSet.

Climate: Temperate
Year: 1921

Near the northern see the terrain is mostly flat. In the alps, there are narrow canyons and many trees. I recommend not to start in here :-)
