As much as I like your station - it is not a mission style one.
Mission style includes sloped roofs and lotsa of arches and columns - like this:

No, that's not a mission style station. This is.

cornelius, it looks gorgeous man! I realize it's just a mock up ATM, so I'm assuming the arches/gables that krtaylor and uzurpator are referring to are on their way. I'd say it's an excellent start, and once the details are added, it'll definitely capture the "Mission Style" flavour.

Yeah, I realise arches and gables are two key parts of the style. There are some tiny arches (if you squint) on the wall to the left of the tower and the main roof is slightly pitched at the moment but probably needs a bit more of a slant. LA Union Station is my model for this one (although it's not an exact copy of course) so I do know what the end result needs to be like. Cheers again everyone.DanMacK wrote:cornelius, it looks gorgeous man! Better idea - rework the signals to support unique PBS variants, and fix the bull's-eye versions to be smaller.

No idea. Ask Dan, he cleaned it up so he must know what it is. Maybe we'll use it like the SD70M?uzurpator wrote:BTW - wtf is sd 40 - 270m?

Anyhoo - f59phi in metra colors (rework on thrakki's sprites)
An SD70M with an identity crisis? Seriously, it should just be SD70Muzurpator wrote:BTW - wtf is sd 40 - 270m?

We don't have enough boxcars methinks...
That said, here's a New York Central "Pacemaker" boxcar - can be used in all 3 climes post 1945 to about 1970. Image of the actual car (model) can be seen Here

Cool ... Also CN, GT, CV and CP box cars drop into the US sometimes (daily?)DanMacK wrote:We don't have enough boxcars methinks...
If you add some here, they'll be ready for the Canadian set later

Very nice - I agree we could use some more boxcar variety.

I like those intermodals, some of them appear to be new also.

Like the well cars uzurpator, but my 70M's didn't need to get redrawn. My revision of B52's is actually before I redrew my BN one from scratch. The CSX one was the same, my UP one looks like crap in comparison, then again, look at the source. (I'll redraw it so it fits in with the other 70M's...)

Well - I still think that you ought to draw roofs brighter - to show where roof starts and sidewalls end - otherwise your road-switchers look flat
. But true - your SD70 didn't need a redraw. B52's did... Besides - this is just a quick hack - its not going to get finished. I have other business to attend to
Anyhoo - the intermodals were posted about 3 times now. But a certain ns37 didn't like the sizes of the containers.

Yea, I can see your point. My BN SD70 follows that principleuzurpator wrote:Well - I still think that you ought to draw roofs brighter - to show where roof starts and sidewalls end - otherwise your road-switchers look flat. Progress is actually occurring very quickly at the moment, with almost no graphics left to code. I think I will probably end up sending the test versions out this weekend or early next week and then the release will occur sometime after Easter.
The Big Boy sprites and Budd Big Dome have been integrated - thanks.
Maybe I should have said earlier, but I had a possible idea for those stations where you want to "steal" a platform for the building. It is probably possible to make it look like the train is entering an underpass/tunnel at the start of the station and then descends to pass under the building, and back out the other end. It would probably work by having the "roof" sprites covering the train, as you suggest for use here. Anyway, keep up the good work!
I spend most of my station coding time dealing with all the different lengths of platform (usually to keep the building in the middle) and doing random designs for stations (which you should notice if you build several of the Amtrak and Alderson stations). I won't have to do too much of that here so it shouldn't be too bad...
Uzurpator - that F59 and carriages look nice
. Will be integrated very soon.
.
OK, I've changed this.DanMacK wrote:The "Passenger Only" list is reasonably accurate, but I'd say drop the F40PH-2 from that list. In a pinch, these units have been leased to freight railroads that are short on power and it's not unheard of to see F40's on freight.
I feel that I should tell you that I am sticking to my original plan here, to make the releases less severe. In the next release, any replacement locos in different climates (e.g. Y6b/AC-6) will do just that but no existing locos will be removed where there are no replacements. That will happen in the next release (hopefully not too long after), which will then be approaching a semi-finished state.krtaylor wrote:Just Tropics I think. That's really the only place they were ever used. Arctic would be OK, but not Temperate.uzurpator wrote:In which climates we have BigBlow?

That looks great, cornelius! I'm sure we'd all like to play with it!cornelius wrote:Here's my proof-of-concept for a large Mission-style station.

That'll almost be a piece of cake!Aegir wrote:Looks good Cornelius, I dont see anything wrong with it from a coding perspective. I do feel sorry for Oracle though...

I was literally about halfway through coding those when I read that. They are working nicely nowuzurpator wrote:Anyhoo - the intermodals were posted about 3 times now. But a certain ns37 didn't like the sizes of the containers.
