The Frontend interface is working, but how come the programme itself can't find any data (trains, planes..etc.) whatever...
I've put in the correct directory path already...

Do you have locotool installed? The frontend just uses locotool to access the .dats. Other than that, I don't know.

When saving your modified trains, it prompts you where you want to save it. Is it possible to make it default to the objdata folder, but then ask for confirmation just in case you do want to save it somewhere else. Also, is it possible to offer the option to rename the files that you are saving? When I modified the Special 242 to go 240 mph, I overwrote the original train file, then I had to modify it back to the original specs once I was done. Maybe there is an option I just didn't see, but that would be a nice feature. I know you can go through Windows and copy/paste and rename the new file and just edit that one, but it would be nice if it was incorporated into the program.

thanks

I've install both frontend 0.3 and locotool the latest one. The frontend just dun working on the objdata folder files. When start the programme, it has a quick loading, but nothing happens after that...no vehicles can be selected, no error message.....

The compiling and decompiling procedure needs more work:
I got one dos window poping up for each .dat file and neeeded to wait and close it manually...
I would prefer a temporary decompiling directory and no constand waste of 50 mb.

That must be a very old version of Locotool then... since 0.2 it hasn't opened a window unless there is an error.

Actually, it (the frontend) will open up a window if it finds a dat file that it doesn't have information on already (such as after downloading a new vehicle or running it for the very first time).

You can now edit the cargo and i fixed a few bugs.

Is this still available someplace? Tried to download it via the link but get "no permission" errors

Thanks

Yes I am also getting 403's when I try to download. I would like this programme very much because i hate using windows' crappy excuse for a console - man if only I could get bash for windows =^_^= (yes I know cygwin but I'm on dialup >_<).

@ Mathias

i hope you will release a new version because the german locomotion community is very interested in it, i dont need it, because im a coder and have no problems with working in the xmls, but many people like the frontend very much and asked me, if i could get a new version for them, but i only can ask you if you wanna make a new version?

You should get the ObjData path info from your config.ini file, so the program doesn't ask you to browse for it everytime you export something.

Try this:

In WinXP, click start->run

Type in (without the quotes): "regsvr32.exe MSCOMCTL.OSX"

It is obvious that if you want to make faster trains, there is not much help from faster engines if you don't have faster wagons as well. However, every time I try to mod (using frontend II) the flatbed or hopper wagons to allow faster speed limit, the process somehow messes up the wagon graphics in the game. The wagons go as fast as planned, but flatbed wagon graphics indicate at every station that lumber is being loaded although the station would be supplying steel or paper! (Similarly, hopper wagons seem to find only graphics for coal, although being loaded iron ore or grain. And the same problem also in trucks...)

Is there some special attributes that one should change when modifying the wagon files in frontend II to keep the correct graphics settings in the new .dat files? Any solution to this? Thanks!

I just changed my mod for NG rackrail wagons, see:
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=353893#353893

I found this:
I had to make some minor changes.
Changes made by Locotool frontend made corrupt the viewing of the cargo in the hopper wagon and the flatbed.( several cargo id's)
After the id nr. of the cargo, where the sprites reading start? was all put on "0"
Had to be like,e.g. ,0,512,1024.
Made changes by hand with locotool.
Cargo should be showed well now.

This fault occured to all wagons which show their cargo:
All hoppers and flatbeds had only one cargo, starting at sprite "0"
