You can only use it in new games created from the new scenario you created in the scenerio editor (in the advanced option, you can check the London Underground train)
I know, and i select him, satart the new scenerio: No london Metro; and i am making a metro from rotterdam, im have made the sprites like you say but Loco still crashes :(
How big is the DAT file? If it is more than 300K then it will crash. You need to check that the resulting colour palette of each individual PNG file is the same as the lomo.pal file - if not, you'll get a huge DAT file (I've had 12Mb!) and Locomotion crashes. This is what the Palette Express steps do - set the palette to lomo.pal

you know later versions of paint shop pro have supported scripting, and i have set a few scripts to turn my models into lomo palettes, this way you dont have to convert to gif, then to something else with the right pal. i have a few different sets for different palettes depending on what kind of train or vehicle i want.

on a side note i think that ppl should be careful with converting other ppls models into sprites for lomo. the first time it happens without authorization, we will never hear the end of it.

I appreciated this and I'm currently gaining authorisation for the models hosted on http://www.uktrainsim.com - see http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?p=445155

ok.......

Post by Hamish McTycoon »

im trying to convert an msts engine to lomo. Ive so far managed to create the 136 images and convert them to the lomo.pal using the method qzdcg8 suggested. Problem is, i cant figure out how to batch convert the bmps to png. im using paintshop 5.0 (which i guess is probably very old now). I can do each one manually, but that would take rather a while.......
can anyone help me? Sorry for being so stupid!

It should be under the file menu, there's a Batch Conversion menu option - I use PSP3 and PSP4 so PSP5 will be OK I would have thought

I had a 900K version to - in this case all the palettes were the same but not the same as lomo.pal - you really must check them.

Well OK, i have got a dat file that dont let Locomotion crash but now i still cant see him in te list :?

edit: problem solved: Give him a 8 character name (not less or more) only problem is that the graphics stil, are *beeped* up. Still gotta work on that one :P

edit:
Hmm, if i gonna open loco.pal in Adobe Photoshop it says its not a valid .pal :?

Hmm, strange This is one of my used sprites:

Sprites are looking good. BMP with Loco pallet etc then converted in PSP to PNG (Maybe thats has gone wrong somehow?) Ingame its just a rainbow of colorpixels.

You need to make sure the PNG file also has the Loco palette. (No, I haven't checked it.)
Bugzilla available for use - PM for details.

The one posted here was a Paintshop Pro pal file - this may not be the same format as other pal files.

colouring

Post by Hamish McTycoon »

i creted the PNG images all correct in loco.pal and stuff. The problem is, the train appears to be really dark on one side and really light on the other. This is really annoying, as the graphics were not like this before i applied the loco.pal, and the train now looks silly with one really dark side and one really light side, especially as there is no strong light source in the game. Any ideas?

Hmm, i manually added the pallet but it still seems to be not working :/

And about that dark side: does the program wich makes the sprites do that?

Please could somebody help me?

i've brought a loco sucessful into the game, but the colors aren't right. I used Palette Express first, then Paintshop Pro 9 bmp to png batch. I also tried it with a 256 color mode but it changed nothing.
