It crashes with Raichases scenario :(

Post by 103er-Fan »

Greetings everyone, I just encountered a strange problem:

When I play Raichases latest scenario, TTD Patch keeps crashing after around 1 year. No matter if I am doing something or not. I am using the latest alpha and already experimented with switches like the resolution feature or PBS. But as of now I couldn't find the reason for this. Generated maps are running well :?

I attached my config and the scenario.

Do you have a crash log too?

I have exactly the same problem with Raichases scenario, AND on two different computers, and even after I tried going back to alpha 40, and loading a game saved in a41. On my home computer, It crashed on a certain date, around 1927 or so, on the school computer, it crashes exactly on the 1st of Janurary/sometimes feburary, in any year. On both times it crashed after I changed "drive on right side", however, I am not so sure about that last point. It's a wonderful scenario, BTW.

[edit] do you want the save? The game crashes with CPU @ 100%, and it does not produce a crashlog

Exactly the same here, windows shows 100% cpu load for TTD and the game doesn't create any crashlog :(

I wonder if it's because you're missing some graphics sets. I remember having a lock-up like this when disabling an older new building set.

I guess we'd need to find out what graphics sets Raichase was using.

Maybe it's the new DBXL set causing problems when loaded with the old version.

Actually, it's in the newhouses code, if you turn that off it loads fine. Or you can make sure that you load all of the town graphics which Raichase is using.

Seems to be another stupid bug (C) by Csaboka

It can be fixed by changing one line in the source code. The bug doesn't mess up anything after 1930, that's why it didn't show up until now. I'll submit the fix ASAP.

Until the next version, you can either turn newhouses off or Cht: Year to 1930.

Aha, I'm sorry about this guys - It shouldn't have anything to do with the DB Set XL, but it may have something to do with the fact that I am using Zimmlocks (amazing) new buildings in the scenario's, some of which are in towns at the start of the game.

Good thing we found this though, as Csaboka knows whats doing, and can fix it - now thats some damn good speed for someone who doesn't get payed for this (I have e-mailed technical support about games I have *bought* from a store recently, and gotten no reply for a week. :|).

Cheers guys! (Thanks for the positive feedback too, pity about the crashing :|)

Well, given how stupid the bug was, I really deserve a slap instead of a thankyou :)

I'm very good at very stupid bugs. Fortunately, most of them are so stupid that they make TTD crash soon, so I can fix them right away. Unfortunately, this particular bug was both stupid and rare, that's why it took so long to spot even though it was there since the first version of newhouses...
