Frustrating TT-Forums.net - Graphics overview
Moderator: Graphics Moderators
I think developing a website would be better. It can be much more sophisticated than trying to force a useful structure for graphics within the confines of the forum structure.
The problem with posting graphics made by people who don't like that, well it shouldn't be hard to not host the files there but just provide links to the original site.

Well, that's that. Also I agree with him.

Development Projects Site:

Japan, American Transition, Planeset, and Project Generic Stations available there

You mean like a TT-Forum website? If so, I certainly conquer! That way files would stay close to the development itself, in opposite of having them posted elsewhere - away from TTF!Patchman wrote:I think developing a website would be better. It's for Owen to decide I suppose, and if it was for the sake of TTDLX only there might have been some hesitation, but with also LoMo around with more files to expect, I think it would be a great idea! But does he have enough time...

I'm gonna agree with doing a site.
Trying to do the info within the confines of a forum is really annoying. So if someone wants do a site they can, but I'm not up to doing a site since I can't find my Dreamweaver install cd.

What about just making a new section on the wiki? That way anyone can add the information and no one person would have to take all of the workload.
EDIT: I tried to get this started myself, so I signed up on the TTDPatch wiki but everytime I try to preview or save a page a get the error "No page indicated", so I gave up.

One of the plans I had for the new Repository, and something that I actually got started on, was a large database of any GRF file I could basically find. The site would then detect which GRFs were needed in a particular game, and show a list of download links. This could be adapted to some sort of GRF database. Now, something I think I could and might well do is actually create a graphics database that integrates itself into the forum - for instance, it uses the forum's user system and so on, and takes on the appearance of the forum. It shouldn't that difficult, either, assuming it's (at the moment at least) only a relatively basic site that's desired. Leave it with me, I will actually see if I can get this done, for once.

Didn't we have http://ttdgraphics.cjb.net/ ?

My site (which is still in progress) is meant for all graphics, included the ones which aren't coded yet.orudge wrote:Well, that's currently only for EXE-based graphics, and Dinges has disappeared recently...
What about that?
IMO, it should have good search/select/query options so you can find the graphics more easier.

Any time frames? It has been on hold for awhile, hasn't it?Purno wrote:My site (which is still in progress) is meant for all graphics, included the ones which aren't coded yet.orudge wrote:Well, that's currently only for EXE-based graphics, and Dinges has disappeared recently...

DaaNtje, who's making it for me, is busy with school and such. I don't know exactly what he has done the last weeks/months.
But I hope it will be finished ASAP. If DaaNtje gets *too* busy, I might need somebody else to help.
For now, I'm only asking if it's usefull to continue and what the site must include.

As long as it's possible to visualize some sort of a connection between developments, discussions, and so on here at TTF with a downloads section somewhere, I think everything should be just fine!
I for one, believe that it should be as easy to collect files, (finals, updated, improved), as it should be easy to find relevant information about any particular file - if available!
The amount of materials created here at TTF - which is one of a kind really - needs sufficient focus!

Are we talking about http://ttdgraphics.cjb.net/index.php? Didn't someone mention that its webmaster has disappeared?
Shouldn't we at least wait to see what solution Owen may come up with regarding his proposed data base!
