[Question] Trains with dual power supply types.

Post by eastcoastshipping »

Is it possible to have two different types of supply eg. 3rd rail and Diesel, and if it is, is it possible to have different BHP ratings. I doubt this without some serious editing.

Examples

Class 92, which i think is on the game but only overhead
(In real life it can operate 3rd rail as well)

Class 73, this is the one I really want, its a more powerful faster class 71, but with a backup 400bhp diesel engine for small sections. If not to be honest id just settle for a Faster, more powerful Class 71, renamed class 73. Maybe a few visual changes.

I have heard that these types of trains are quite unreliable in real life. If so would you want this to be the case in game? Also correct me if im wrong somebody would have to do some serious editing to get a train to have dual power sources and to get it to have diffrent BHP ratings.

Class 74 was a conversion of the 71 to include a diesel engine, but class 73 was pretty good im told.

I'm not even sure if the game could handle a second power source. The power rating variable is only one field and doesn'a look like it supports multiple entries.

No, no harm in asking. Well, except for maybe asking the IRS, "Do you think I should be audited?" ;)

It could be possible, there are Genesis locomotives in the North Eastern US that can either run on their diesel generator or from the third rail, and the 319 in the UK uses both types of electric input.
