Rusty tracks

I think we forgot this topic
2. This is a problem, I'm working on it
3. Where are this graphics? I can't find them!
4. That's in rusty.zip/trg1r.grf/3-4 directory
5. That's already done too (rusty.zip/trg1r.grf/2)
6. Tropical and arctic climate are incuded.
Probably tomorrow, I'll send the missing graphics in.

1. Sorry, but I'm not a graphic, I can make graphics only like that.Dribbel wrote:Things to do:
1. beter images!!
2. junctions
3. tracks in stations/depot
4. tracks on bridges, requires new bridge graphics
5. rail/road crossings
6. other climates

OK, I'm ready with the junctions and tunnels. The updated zip file can be found at http://www.geva.hu/rusty.zip. The new graphics are in rusty.zip/junctions and rusty.zip/tunnels directory.
@Dribbel: Much thanks for your work so far, I hope that you could continue working with that new graphics.

They do. I heard of a guy, who were ordered to clean up his junk because it looked like a car cementary. Of cause rusty tracks are no way near that.Born Acorn wrote:Why would a council get angry at rusty tracks?
Tracks are rusty even when used the most.
The council doesn't get angry with me if the car gets rusty
You might end up with somebody putting pavement on your tracks to build a road or something if you have forgotten about those tracks. I heard that this nearly happened in real life. The railroad operator discovered that plan and started to speak about still active tracks even though it was not on a daily basis anymore. Today there is a tunnel for the railroad.

some of teh points where for my reference only
1) The graphics had lost some info (see http://www.tt-forums.net//files/rusty_wrong.png ) This can easily be correctly. (not be me)
2) this is also a coding problem, i need to keep track of the directions on a jucntion that are used., that needs some more research to accomplish, but is certainly not impossible
3 ... 6) these are all coding issues, more time is needed. Station and depot tracks are just regular tracks with stations or depots drawn ontop of them. But the generation is done in a other part of the code as where the rails are drawn.
The whole rusty track implementation is hacked into the game. A would be better to start over and do it right and to do all (station, bridges, climates etc etc)
Right now i'm busy with RL (RealLife) so don't expect real progress soon. But i'll work on it in the near future
[EDIT] made space after the link so the computer do not include ")". Now the link works if I click on it - Bjarni

It's not working properly. Dribbel made a _very_ alpha version, with many bugs and missing graphics, etc. I solved the juctions problem, but Dribbel didn't answer my posts for a month, so I would like to find someone who could make better graphics (Born Acorn?) and do the programmig part of it (in C).Wolf01 wrote:i want to see rusty tracks at work, where can i get a compiled version (WIN)?
Suggestion
Maybe we could include a track cleaning car, so tracks could go faster shiny, and we could also make ik so you get a speed limit according to the amount of rust. example: bit rusty track reduces speed to 400km/h, more rusty to 120km/h, and rusty to 60km/h.
Re: Suggestion
Read mainetance vehicles discussion and place comments. I spent more then a hour writing the last post and nobody bothered to make a single reply ;-(Rubentje wrote:Maybe we could include a track cleaning car, so tracks could go faster shiny, and we could also make ik so you get a speed limit according to the amount of rust. example: bit rusty track reduces speed to 400km/h, more rusty to 120km/h, and rusty to 60km/h.

Re: Suggestion
First we have to write the main code. Dribbel has been away for a month. I'm waiting for somebody who writes the code, because I can't program in C.Rubentje wrote:Maybe we could include a track cleaning car, so tracks could go faster shiny, and we could also make ik so you get a speed limit according to the amount of rust. example: bit rusty track reduces speed to 400km/h, more rusty to 120km/h, and rusty to 60km/h.
Hey, if the mantaninc vehicles come out, and the trains don't run over the tracks for a certain amount of years, the maintence vehicles would clean up the tracks.

When do the rusty tracks kick in. What year.

I've already drawn it (http://www.geva.hu/rusty.zip)Zetor2003 wrote:That noone can tell you. It's gonna come when someone wanna code and draw it.
Only the coding is the question.[/url]
