New TT Website.

Post by DreangedHermit »

Seems to me like there are not that many Transport tycoon websites any more :( . So I decided to make one I opened up my wallet and started spending for hosting name and more, the problem is, (other then I'm broke now) that I don’t have enough content. I’m looking for more content before I open up the site. If any one has any thing they would like to contribute ill be glad to put it up and put your name on it. Please email me at Flameingwalla@hotmail.com.

Honestly, I think the TTD world is pretty thoroughly covered.
- This site covers ongoing development
- The Patch site covers the Patch, manuals and all
- Dinges' site covers new graphics
- Michael Blunck's site covers his graphics
- My sites cover the major sets I work on
- Owen's Saved Game Repository stores savegames and scenarios (when it's working, which it isn't now)
- George's site has his Long Vehicles, and an analysis of the various vehicles offered in the game

Then there are a couple of sites which discuss building guides, various oddities, etc. I can't think of anything about TTD that I'd like to see, that isn't already out there. But maybe someone else can.

Actually, I have thought of something that nobody else has done, and which would be very useful.

You may recall that the original game inlcuded animated tutorials, to teach you how to lay track, do vehicles, etc. These tutorials don't work very well with the Patch, and anyway, they do not teach about all the new Patch features.

It's not possible to do a new animated tutorial, but it would be very useful if you could do an online tutorial with descriptions and screenshots, to show exactly how to play the game. This would cover the basics of building track, also showing how to use build-on-slopes and higher-bridges; how to use presignals effectively; how to do a complex network and make the routing work using waypoints; how to refit traincars and road vehicles; normal vs. electrified track; and so on. That way we could point newbies to your site to learn how to use the game with the Patch.

There still isn't a site which contains non-coded-graphic-sprites, IIRC.

Something like that was discussed in:

There is an option on the web to make it look like a real animated tutorial: Flash. If you use it it can look verry smooth:P:P and yess a site for newbies is would be verry verry good( i just started 3 weeks ago and the patch covers so mutch extra:D:D)

Well, NOTHING has happened to speak of in the Patch world in the last month, between the Forum problems and LoMo. Frustrating.

Who knows flash? Because that'd be really grand!

And so you know: i can provide hosting to any (Open)TT(D(P)) related site, on a grade A server. Hosting shouldn't be a prob for anyone that can make something usefull, should it? I'd be proud to host a TTD tutorial, or whatever else that'd be usefull.

Hmm, i'll make a topic about that...

Very interesting suggestion krtaylor about the original tutorials. Has anyone ever looked at the code in TT that provides for this. 8)

it would have been great had the long trucks been more realistic, with the hinge in the middle!

That must've taken you A LOT of digging up. Too bad that you end up posting in the wrong section after all that digging up then. George has his own topic for his Long Vehicle Set in the Graphics forum.
