Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
Trams trams trams! BRTrains now contains a variety of trams (featuring real-world liveries, of course). Mostly modern designs for now but with a couple of old ones and more to come in future releases. Also present are tram-variants of some UK heavy rail Metro units (London Underground 2024 stock, Class 555 and 777 Metro units, and the Class 139 Parry People Mover) which also have train variants. Heavy rail units can be enabled/disabled via parameter, depending on your gameplay style
Trams included in this release:
Bombardier M5000 (Manchester Metrolink)
Bombardier B07 (Docklands Light Rail)
Bombardier CR4000 (London Trams)
Stadler "Croydon" Variobahn (London Trams)
Bombardier Flexity 2 (Blackpool Tramway)
CAF Urbos 3 (West Midlands Metro)
Siemens-Duewag "Supertram" (Sheffield Supertram)
Stadler Class 399 "Citylink" (Sheffield Supertram)
Glasgow classic Wooden Tram
Blackpool 1924 Standard 147
Tram variant of Parry People Mover
Tram varant of Class 555 (T&W Metro)
Tram variant of Class 777 (Merseyrail)
Tram variants of LU 2024 stock (London Underground)
And, of course, some work on trains
Added Class 321
Added Class 555 "Metro" (heavy rail variant)
Re-drew Class 458/0
Re-drew class 66
Removed 10-car Class 720/1 (never entered service), added C2C livery to 720/0 instead
Improved Class 68 cabs
Added TPE Pride livery for Class 802

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
Thank you
for adding trams to the set. This includes a tram variant to some of the heavy rail metro trains. This will help me building an underground metro line within some of the largest cities without angering the local authorities. Please keep them coming.

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
That was exactly my reason for adding them
along with the fact it’s just difficult to fit a metro system into many smaller cities when using rail. Even on a 4K x 4K map London gets so cramped
Let me know if there’s anything missing or that you particularly want adding. I’ll hopefully add the rest of the LU stock to the next update (if you don’t see the 2024 stock make sure you adjust the parameter… it shouldn’t show up by default, along with a few other heavy rail metro units)

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
I just checked the whole tram set, and yes I found the LU 2024 stock (tram variant) in the set. However, there are two items missing from your tram set.audigex wrote: 06 Jun 2024 10:34 That was exactly my reason for adding themalong with the fact it’s just difficult to fit a metro system into many smaller cities when using rail. The first one is a bell for the trams to warn people near by of its present. When the tram comes out of the depot a bell is not sounded. A standard bell will be sufficient.
The second one is a horn for the tram variant of the heavy-rail metro trains, such as the LU2024 stock and the Class 555 (T&W Meto). Again, a standard horn sound or the sound of a traction motor whine up should be sufficient
These could be included in a future update.
Good Luck

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
Am I being daft. I can't find a wagon equipped to carry goods in FIRS. I keep pushing the date forward. I have gotten as far as 1983 and still can't find anything to transport goods.
Thanks,
Casey

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
v2.11 released
Fixed the bug reported above where the container flatbed wagon can't carry Goods and added an early Goods wagon to fill in the gap pre-1966
The very early game still isn't perfect and there may be a very early period where some cargoes can't be carried, but the set should be a lot more useable now
The update also contains a handful of minor fixes (purchase sprites, a tender length) and tweaks to loading speeds, weights, running costs etc but nothing very dramatic

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
I've got a bug report!
The class 88 is labeled as a bi-mode loco (and indeed is in real life), however, it is labeled in-game as a diesel loco, not a bi-mode (see image).

I've played for years, but I'm still stupid.

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
Fixed for the upcoming 2.12 release, thanks
That additional text/description section is due an overhaul at some point, it's no longer consistent between units and I don't think most of the RA information is up to date anyway

Can I suggest a "metro trams only" parameter?audigex wrote: 08 Aug 2024 02:42 v2.12 now available on BaNaNaS

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
That parameter exists (although might not be working correctly in the current release - I think I’ve fixed it for the next one)
Or do you mean that you’d like it to disable trams entirely and only have the metro trains as trams, no normal trams?

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
Herro!
One thing i have noticed, a few liveries are not included at present that may be nice that appear (or used to appear) in regular PAX services.
The Class 170s used to rock this livery for Transpennine Express. It was essentially the same livery as the original 185 one they had. TPE only used the 2 carriage 170s, no 3 ones to my knowledge.
Also class 350's in general, only London Midland shows up, however they've served (or serve) with LNWR, Transpennine Express used two different liveries, old & new, they were also 'as delivered' in a sleekish blue & white used by Silverlink & Central Rail.
If you get some spare time, may be nice additions?

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
Are you using the latest version? The Class 350 has the London Midland livery, Silverlink blue/white livery, final Transpennine Express livery, and two versions of the LNWR livery - the transitional one you posted plus the more detailed one they've been using latelyRedirect Left wrote: 13 Nov 2024 03:49 Herro!

The First "Dynamic Lines" livery they originally used on TPE is missing, but the rest should be there - let me know if you can't see them in the latest version as it may be a bug. I'll add the Dynamic Lines liveries to my to-do list though for the 170 and 350
If you're only seeing London Midland you may also be looking at the old model, I think I reworked the 350 a while ago when I added those liveries so you're possibly looking at the old sprites which are out of scale

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
Hmm. I am still using the GRF you gave me on Discord a while ago to fix something i can't remember that i talk to you on Discord about. The GRF hasn't been updated in-game using BaNaNaS, so I am guessing the patched GRF isn't updateable from the content service for some reason. The version the GRF identifies itself as is 12.audigex wrote: 14 Nov 2024 12:07 If you're only seeing London Midland you may also be looking at the old model, I think I reworked the 350 a while ago when I added those liveries so you're possibly looking at the old sprites which are out of scale
Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
Strange, that should be the latest one then
You definitely don’t have BRTrains v1 or something active in the same save?

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
Hm, i have managed to get it to display the liveries in-game, although the liveries string on buy menu still doesn't mention the extra liverie, only LM

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
Ah okay yeah that’s just not been updated
The list in the purchase menu isn’t dynamically generated so occasionally I forget to update it (or when adding multiple liveries, think I already have done)
I should really go through and check them all but the plan is to move liveries to variants anyway so I don’t want to spend too much time on it

Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
I have installed this, but I can't seem to see all of the trains? Some appear (like the 68, 80x, etc.), but others don't (like the 158, HSTs, etc.). I have started my save in 2050, so it should all be unlocked. How can I fix this?
Re: British Rail Set (BRTrains v2)
The game hides trains after they expire, it's an OpenTTD setting. BRTrains sets some vehicles to never expire (like the 68, 80X etc) so that you should always have some units to play with on long games, but the others will expire unless you tell the game specifically not to let themchbmckie wrote: 28 Jan 2025 18:20 I have installed this, but I can't seem to see all of the trains? To do this, go into settings in the main menu and find the "Vehicles never expire" setting and turn it on, and that will change it for all future savegames that you start
If you want to change it for a savegame that you have already started, do the same thing from the settings menu in-game (not the main menu), then press ` to open the console and enter the command `reset_engines` to bring back expired units
