I suppose you are the original designer of the Dutch trainset and perhaps also the Dutch stations. I had great fun playing them in a scenario and was surprised by the huge number of vehicles to be selected, almost an overview of NS rolling material. Also the stations are familiar to me,, A walk down memory lane for some of the train-models. Thank you for your work :D !

What kind of strikes me is the total lack of goods locomotives before 1865 (series 2900), but that might be because the 2900 were indeed the first dedicated goods locomotives in the Netherlands. At least I couldn't find anything older.

Aside from that, the set lacks 19th century passenger coaches and maybe also mail wagons so that the covered vans don't have to be able to carry mail (causes irritations when auto-refitting).
I think you're right about the NS 2900 being the first dedicated goods engines in the Netherlands. I can't find any older series. The NS 2700 (3 engines) and NS 2800 (12 engines, of which 5 made it to NS in 1921) were 0-6-0 engines as well, but built in 1871 and 1865 respectively. Even the HSM "Handel" ("Trade") and "Zeevaart" ("Sea shipping"), which were the first goods engines of the HSM company, were built only in 1871. Before that older, slower engines were used for goods trains, while newer, faster engines were used for passengers trains.

More 19th century passengers coaches would be very nice indeed. Mail coaches can be based on real mail coaches or luggage wagons.

I am not the original designer of this set, nor have I ever helped or designed any other set for (Open) TTD. I don't know the designer either, I think it is user Hyronymus who designed this set. I just happen to live in the Netherlands and love trains, so I know a few things about Dutch trains.

We had at some time a huge sheet with information on all the vehicles in the set and I think it included the wheel arrangements, but it got lost.
Have you checked here? It's for the old version of the Dutch trainset and has some relevance.

The oldest steam engine intended for freight trains was the HIJSM Vulcanus (axle arrangement B1), built in 1840 by Verveer (build number 2). It was followed by the HIJSM Holland (axle arrangement 1A1), built in 1856 by R. Stephenson & Co (build number 1.023). Source: De Nederlandse stoomlocomotieven. I have the book at home, shout if you want more information.

I decided to make a few liveries for the FLIRT3 that Yoshi made.

Very nice! Please consider making Arriva Limburg livery (2 and 3 carriages) and NS (3 and 4 carriages). And maybe even Abellio (Germany-Arnhem service) and Keolis Deutschland (Germany-Hengelo service) too (both 5 carriages).

Might make those later. As for the NS livery, I did say that I based this on the sprite Yoshi made

EDIT: I made the Arriva Limburg ones, and the Arriva Drielandentrein (3-car)

I also made sprites for the Stadler WINK, the battery train that they're going to use in Groningen and Friesland in 2020.

I made the SNG. Until NS comes out with the DDNG or w/e (which they should because capacity) we should be set for a while.

If you really can't wait, you can test them by manually downloading it from here.

Thanks to Erato for coding the add-on from which I could copy most of the code and properties.

Container wagon date

Post by SciFurz »

First off, I really enjoy using this set, thanks to the makers! I think it's the best set for cargo equipment but I still like to see more wagon options. :-p I'll just have to set some time apart to look though the source and try to add a four axle flat wagon for starters.

My question, I noticed the introduction date for the container wagon is 2027 or 2028, isn't that very late since there are already articulated versions in use right now?

I decided to create sprites for Siemens Vectron, since there's a limited number of multisystem freight locomotives that can run in the Betuweroute from this set.

I used this source here to know the liveries.

Comments are necessary. I'm always happy to help.

This looks really cool. I see the Vectron almost daily, so it's nice to see sprites for it.
Just one bit of criticism, if I may, the horizontal view (like the image with "PackageArrival") looks more like a 186. The front should be less steeply slanted and more curved.

Thanks for your opinion, I realized that it looks more like class 186.
While I'm out, I experiment a bit and look were I ended up.

So I changed the Cab from "steeply slanted" to "curved."
Thanks for the sprites of class 186 and class 189 from Voyager One. It helped me for comparing and creating the perfect shape for class 193.
.

I would love to hear any suggestions (since it's Valentine's).

This is really cool. Mind if I put these in the Dutch trainset addon? It might be a while until the Dutch trainset is updated.

@Developers of the Dutch trainset, when it is updated, could you make sure to update the ICNG to be a realistic size. I updated the addon, as I learned that the ICNG is actually pretty short.

That's ok for me. I already tested the sprites in-game and compared the size to other engine. I found out that the diagonal view of Vectron is taller by 1px (due to the way I draw) when using the the templates from the 2cc, I think you have to change the value of the y offset(move down 1px) or create new template to match the height of the other engine.
