Yes indeed, although it's a separate fare and doesn't fit into the daily cap.

From what I've been told, the Heathrow Express is not covered by the Oyster Zone, but I could use my Student railcard on it, anyone have any clue on this? And If I were to get the tube (Piccadilly line I think), how much longer would this take to get into the centre of London?
Re: 2016 TT-Forums Meet [Date confirmed - please sign up!]
Well. It's about an hour and a quarter to Holborn on the Picc. It's a bit of a rough ride but whatever.
Heathrow Ex half an hour into Paddington but two changes to Holborn.

You can use your railcard, have done it before.Pilot wrote:From what I've been told, the Heathrow Express is not covered by the Oyster Zone, but I could use my Student railcard on it, anyone have any clue on this? I wonder if my disabled railcard is valid on the tube. That'd certainly make things more affordable. Can I buy rail tickets from a normal network station to a tube station, and do it all in one, or will I need to end it at London Termini and then use something else (oyster I assume) onwards? My previous ventures were through London onwards to Chessington, which was all valid throughout the tube, changed at Euston/KGX then tube to Vauxhall and back on the normal network onwards. Never needed to get one to a tube station specifically.
perhaps I should just meet someone else at one of the termini stations so I don't get lost

I'm intending on getting a Hotel near Euston, and KGX and St Pancras are only up the road, I could always meet you there, then I'm guessing it would be the Thameslink from Pancras to Blackfriars.Redirect Left wrote:perhaps I should just meet someone else at one of the termini stations so I don't get lost
Edit: We could probably meet with Geo and anyone else coming from that way there too.

sounds like a plan, whichever train I get it'll arrive at KGX or STP.Pilot wrote: Edit: We could probably meet with Geo and anyone else coming from that way there too.

Yes railcars are valid in the tube - you can add them to your oyster card, but only if it is registered, or you can buy travel cards with 1/3 off
Re: 2016 TT-Forums Meet [Date confirmed - please sign up!]
This would be a great excuse to visit UK again, it would conveniently be around my vacations too

Re: 2016 TT-Forums Meet [Date confirmed - please sign up!]
Okay, so, I'm now looking at taking a few days holiday, and being in London from the Thursday through Sunday, will finally end up doing some of the touristy things. Of course, if anyone wanted to meet up on the Thursday or Friday, I'd be up for that too!
Re: 2016 TT-Forums Meet [Date confirmed - please sign up!]
I'd be working I'm afraid. Happy for you to join the working party to a railway though.

It just so happens to be that the UEFA Euro finals will be played on the Sunday, July 10. Any takers on finding a pub to watch it? I'm certain it will feature England vs Sweden. Who else?

Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)

If England are in it you'll be better off watching in your hotel room as every drinking hole in the land will be rammed beyond belief.Chrill wrote:It just so happens to be that the UEFA Euro finals will be played on the Sunday, July 10. Update on my position:
I've just had confirmation of my leave being approved for the Thursday and Friday, and I have an Oyster card coming in the post. Later today, I'll be looking at flight's and hotels, and will be booking them ASAP.
London! I'm coming for you!
EDIT: Speak of the Devil, My Oyster Card has just arrived in the Post!

Contain your excitement, I shall now 100% be attending. The only unsure thing now is whether I'll be around for the Sunday or not!
Shall look into seeing if an oyster card is worth it for 48 hours or not, until the next time I visit London in, probably 5 years assuming previous rate of visiting is kept up
