I've generated the map directly with FIRS Economy before starting the game. The year was 2000, but I wasn't unsure they won't appear after a different year. It's there a way to set industries from not closing ? Let's say that I want to have Oil Rigs from 1900 until 2020 :) and does other GRF interfere and disable some FIRS industries ?

FIRS primary industries (mines, farms etc) never close. Secondary industries (processing) have optional closure with a parameter.

'Available dates' can be seen in the 'fund industry' menu. If no date is mentioned, industry is always available ;)

I've noticed that hotels can close even if no other industries can. Is this intentional or a bug?

Seems OK by me, that way it behaves like any other town building, that can be torn down and replaced.

Boats can't be refitted into picking up Fish (or Sand and Stone from Dredning sites), which means that Fishing grounds can't be used, unless its within reach of a normal station (or you raise land so a station gets close enough)

That's not a problem of FIRS but of your choice of NewGRFs.

FIRS requires vehicles to be able to refit (or at least support all its cargos). As you have trains which support fish, you already use NewGRFs for those which support it. You have to use also a ship set like FISH which allows refitting of boats to all kinds of cargo. Similar argument goes for road vehicles and planes, if you wish to use them with other than default cargos.

FISH can be found at bananas, the in-game download. Other vehicle sets can be found there as well.

FIRS Economy, does it have Timber Yard ? In my generated map in year 2050, I have all the industries without Timber Yard. Or does it called Lumber ? In this case what it have changed ?

PS: I did forgot to ask something. Does it work with Spring Patch Pack: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=66892 ? Any incompatibility issues reported ? I will use daylenght so I don't know if it will work well with that...

Ive used firs with the spring patch pack, it seems to work alright. Though the fact that the spring patch pack dosent change the output of cargo depending on the day length kinda makes for a long boring game

Hello,

I downloaded FIRS and hoped to use it with zBase graphics. The only sets I can find with 32bit graphic vehicles to support FIRS is the GRVTS for vehicles. Is there any newgrf for all vehicles such as http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=52116 ?

I considered to try and change the ECS & Firs set to 32bit using zBase skins but I have no idea what I am doing, although I did try looking at grf editing. Any help/advice appreciated.

GRVTS is the only 32bpp road vehicle set currently available.

The ECS & FIRS Original Vehicle Set has some ambiguity when it comes to copyright status of the sprites. If you're interested in learning the ins-and-outs, though, you may want to start asking questions in the 32-bit Graphics Development forum. And, if I recall correctly, OpenGFX+ Road Vehicles is looking to add 32bpp graphics, and it supports both ECS and FIRS. You may also want to inquire in their development thread as well.

Thanks, I have found a solution for the time being with a NewGrf called 'Old Wagons New Cargo' however it would be nice to get something more like the other ECS/Firs set. I will look into making something but have no coding background so at least there's a workaround for the time being : )

My Junk Yards are not producing any Scrap Metal. I'm not sure why that is.
Does a Junk Yard have to receive something to produce?

I'm only playing with Balanced_City_Growth Gamescript & FIRS Industry Replacement Set 1.2.0, along with some AIs.


I've attached a save game. What am I doing wrong?

What do you mean there is no production???

OpenTTD doesn't push cargo to the station until you ask for it by using a vehicle.

In that save you had refitted the wagons for metal. You need to refit them for scrap metal instead.
