'Humidity' in terms of weather confuses me. It is currently approximately 97% humidity here in Holmfirth.

Surely 100% humidity would indicate you're in the middle of a flood, or are swimming in the sea?

High humidities usually just means that it is raining/has just rained and that the device they use to measure it is wet.

Humidity when expressed as a percentage refers (keeping things simple) to the vapour concentration relative to its saturation value at the current temperature/pressure. It's not an absolute concentration.

Indeed humidity is incredibly variable. Read about dew points and the like, can be a confusing concept at first.

Well its currently 97% humidity here, and under 1 mph of wind. Sticky and not a bit of breeze to help cool down with, going to have to sleep wit an open window tonight, i think...

Perhaps an open window isn't the best idea...

I do it quite often, had it open for weeks on end 24/7 during the summer. It's a nice bonus of living in the semi-rural countryside, nothing to worry relating to crime, just... lots of really big spiders coming in from the woodlands opposite...

They don't bother me personally, or perhaps i've just grown insensitive to them from living here for so long now.

I used to have my window open pretty much all the time, even in the winter.

In Minnesota, I sometimes even had my window open in the winter there (when it would often be -20 degrees C or colder), although part of the reason for that was because I had no control over the heating in my apartment (it was centrally controlled) and it was often much hotter than I would have preferred it to be.

Gave me a bit of a giggle and a "that drivers getting a P45 soon", if you're interested in the story, it's here.

Not necessarily, when I was a van driver for M&S I crashed a couple of times, nothing major mind you, and some of my colleagues crashed, but we never lost out jobs over it. If you drive for a living or have people working for you who drive for a living you have to accept you may have accidents occuring, thats why we all have insurance!

Following SteamOS (opensource linux distro for games) announcement from Monday, Steam Machines.

http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamMachines/

Special console-PC's for SteamOS made by many different manufacturers, including Valve themselves. I'm not sure what's the difference between this and a normal PC but I'm excited nonetheless.

First Android, now this. It's interesting to see Linux hitting more and more end-users the way nobody in FLOSS communities expected a decade ago.
