General Transport in Colour
Right... had this idea sticking up my nose for a while...
Post your transport related pictures here, that you feel showcase any aspect of transport from around the world.
If it be a train stuck in a tunnel, a small boat being dwarfed by a container ship, two planes passing, etc etc then post it here.
I will start...
The long talked about and rather obsessive matter of 150001 in Basingstoke, stuck in some flowerbeds.

Hmm, do fighter jets count as general transport?

So am I right in assuming that this thread is a non-competitive version of the 'Photo of the Month' contest?
I was social distancing before it was cool

Thanks, it was taken a few miles across the water from Seattle on Bainbridge Island. It's the Blue Angels making a pass over Lake Washington (which is behind the city) for the annual Seafair event.

Re: General Transport in Colour
Since I've been in a train tunnel twice during open house days, I thought it might be interesting to share some of the pictures with you. It's a rare opportunity to explore a tunnel on foot if you're not working for a railroad company.
The first image is about two years old and shows the tunnel without rail tracks. Unfortunately I didn't have a tripod and the machinery was rather dirty with shotcrete, so I didn't want to put my camera there.
The other photos I made are even blurrier.
The next two images have been taken this year, after the rail tracks have been built. The tracks are about 1,8 metres above the bottom of the tunnel in the first picture. They are built on massive concrete blocks which are mounted on elastic elements. This reduces the amount of vibrations in the surrounding soil and of course on the surface. (masse-feder-system)
The last picture shows some awesome machinery, probably cleaned up for us visitors.

Re: General Transport in Colour
Then again, how does a utility loco get dirty in a tunnel, right.
Only dumb people quote themselves, and only the biggest idiots put such quotes in their forum signatures

Re: General Transport in Colour
Maybe during construction. But you're right, at the point of time when there are already tracks in the tunnel, most of the dirty work is already done. The machines from the first visit (see first picture in upper posting) were very dirty.
Here's another one from 2010: Again, it's a bit blurry, but you can see it's very wet. The air was very humid, too. Such a tunnel takes a while to dry.
And another one of a utility loco (I think it's the same model, but it's not the same one):

Sorry, that was my mistake, I saw the file sizes were identical and assumed the second post was an incorrect double post. I've rotated the image and added it to your previous post.
