Unable to make any vehicles in randomly generated games

Post by Mr. Vulcan »

Hi,

I recently downloaded the 2.0.7.70 patch for Windows XP and installed it. I didn't alter any of the settings in the config file, but I'm unable to make any vehicles in a randomly generated game. I can make a depot, but when I click on it, the build vehicles menu is completely blank. Oddly enough, I can make them on the pre-loaded maps that come with the game. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks!

Also, I get a message that says "Unable to connect to http://www.melissazone.com" on every page that I visit on the forums. Is there a reason for that and how can I stop it?

Hrm... it looks like it starts in 1930. Could that be the problem? I'll go check if there's an option to make the game start at a later date.

try it with cht:year 1936
then a bus must appear
or change the start year in ttdpatch.cfg

There is an option to change the starting year. The first bus arrives sometime in 1935, so if you're in 1930 to start with you won't see anything. I forget what the switch is, but turning it off completely will return to the original "Start at 1950" game behavior, if that's what you want. The reason it's in there is because a lot of the new train sets have trains that are built in the 1930s or even the 1920s and you miss them if you start too late.
How many boards would the Mongols hoard if the Mongol hordes got bored?

Yeah, I managed to fix it now. Where can I get the new train sets or are they already included along with the patch? Thanks!

Ok, I downloaded the files and created a new folder called "newgrf," but I can't find newgrfw.cfg. Where is it or do I have to create it manually? If I have to do it manually, how do I do so?

Here is mine , you can have a look

Or try a configuration tool: http://www.ttdpatch.net/tools.html
There's a graphic manager here: http://www.ttdpatch.de.vu/
You can use this to manage your grf files

Ok, I downloaded the file and put it in the root directory of the game. I also unzipped all of the graphics files into the newcfg folder. Will the new graphics work now or is there something else I must do?

newrvs
newtrains
newships
semaphores
electrifiedrailways
... something I missed ?

You can't use electrified railways without it (although you can use the trains).

That's why it's always turned on implicitly. You don't need to turn it on, and it'll still work. With electrifiedrailways on, unifiedmaglev only selects the look of the third track type.

If resuming an old game you may need to use
Cht: ResetVehicles.

All those things are turned on in the ttdpatch and I tried the sign cheat to reset the vehicles and it worked, but I still can't get the new graphics to work. Am I missing something here? Btw, thanks for putting up with my questions so far. :P

Do they appear in a new game?

Start one up then use cht:year 2000 and see what vehicles you have.

I have the following engines available:

Kirby Paul Tank
Chancey 'Jubilee'
Ginzu 'A4'
SH '8P'
Manley-Morel DMU
'Dash'
SH/Hendry '25'
UU '37'
Floss '47'
SH '125'

That's all I have. I'm guessing that those aren't the new vehicles. Btw, what can you open up screenshots with? It would have been a lot easier to take one and post it instead of typing it all out.

Irfanview, it works nicely with pcx files and you can save it as a jpeg

P.s. post your ttdpatch.cfg file !!!!!!
