As you asked! If I have one suggestion, it would be to change the texture of the foundations. It just doesn't feel very realistic to me. I don't particularly like the original 8bpp foundations graphics either. I know that's not particularly helpful, but here's a link to a Google search which has thrown up some things which I think would look better, if you could find appropriate textures. The highlighted/open image is the one which seems most suitable to me for temperate/arctic.

Not a big 32bpp fan but I have to admit that's really good looking!

@Pingaware TBH I don't like the current foundation either and the images you linked are great. I will give it a try, I especiallly like rocky foundations on this image:

@Dave Doing my best :) .. well almost. Some bugs and issuess keep me from sleep at night.

Sorry for the progress being not as fast as. I was fighting with foundations a little I also had serious problem with my stomach (ate something toxic).

PS. The cars will be equipped with locks and mirrors for better detail.

I can't get the grfs to show up in the list under 1.4.0, do I need to use a nightly to test these?

Thanks!

Contrary to what the links suggest, they're not direct download links but a sort-of 'landing page' for dropbox where you have to confirm the download again. It works, if you go through the tedious, additional clicks required.

Lately I'm busy on some other projects but to keep the thread alive I would like to speak the announcement that the graphic set I'm developing will be used with 2x zoom levels only (this mean full-res sprites at 2x zoom).

I've made a choice to resign from 4x zoom level for some reasons.
The main reason for this - is the abundance of work that needs to be done in order to 4x zoom graphics to look appealing. Also after a brief thought I've realized that 4x zoom world in OpenTTD looks dead - it's because you cant see people and any other activity, and being zoomed in enlarges that effect (Still I'm waiting for somebody to put some life into OTTD by putting people there :) .
I have other arguments like smaller render times, lower grf sizes. In the end I think that 2x zoom is the best tradeoff between quality and effort.

You may argue that (but since I'm not a full time OTTD artist I can't afford your arguments :P).

As a some update to the topic I would like to put the cars here which are "beta version":

And here is some preview of new farm buildings:

I think 2x graphics would look quite fine! Keep up the good work!

This is only a preview. Farms are not in any of the mentioned grfs yet. The current, present "farms.grf" contains only fields and fences for the fields. The farms itself will be a separate newgrf not available yet.

Hi, when using your terrain & Water GRF I get this problem on corners.

Using OpenTTD r26649 and no other GRF's.

Please consider the project abandoned. I have serious problems with this so I'll probably not release anything new. Sorry for that.

Is there some way we could be helpful in answering some questions related to some of your problems?

Nope. It's mainly due to difficulties to maintain consistency of graphics. Lot's of graphic bugs came out and I cant wrap my head around this.

Maybe some day I will put something in here but I really can't tell when so please dont have any hopes with this project.

I personally cannot help you with blender, but perhaps if you post the issue here, someone might know :)

Overcoming issues is like bread and butter in making 3D graphics, just try to google your problem or ask for issues, it probably has a solution ;)
