Blatter is playing it all down now he's been re-elected, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-32941740

Ridiculous, and the most annoying thing? Chrill is probably right, in a few weeks it'll be swept under the rug and never brought up again...

I somehow believe this statement is not to be taken at face value, but I don't quite get it. Grateful if someone can explain this a bit further.

Moscow's air quality is horrible at times. Any snow that were to pass through it would be contaminated. In other words, Moscow's goverment is dirty and corrupt. I'm sorry I didn't explain it well, it sounded funnier in my head. :D

Now for the real question: will this be a wake-up call to battle the rampant corruption in the TTf system? ;p

A bit lighter in my pockets, but otherwise everything is fine. Nothing to see here, keep moving folks ... ;)

I like how Blatter claims Beckenbauer "dressed down" Niersbach (DfB Boss), and how he criticizes the UEFA for not voting for him. Every time I think my opinion of him can't get worse he reminds me of his infinite arrogance ...

England has said it would support a Europeon boycott of 2018. Will it happen? I severely doubt it.

In fairness, a FIFA World Cup without Europe is pretty much just a South American competition. There is not as much prestige. UEFA would suffer less than FIFA.

And Platini has been pushing to increase the EC value. At the time, I felt it was stupid, but now ... ^^

In USA probably they will.

No way. It's too much of money floating around.
Chrill wrote:UEFA won't dare leave FIFA even if they are the strongest federation around.
CONMEBOL is strong too. Don't underestimate them.
Chrill wrote:If they DID leave FIFA, the 2018 world cup in Russia would of course be nothing short of a farce and the UEFA members would probably leave with their heads held high. It just will not happen, though.
Of course, without UEFA or CONMEBOL WC looses its sense. If UEFA or CONMEBOL leave FIFA, everything in international football will be crashed. Other federations have no enough power (in sense of quality) to disintegrate FIFA. But WC is thing of prestige at first place (although, of course, money is important factor), so neither FIFA nor CONMEBOL will leave FIFA.

If UEFA and CONMEBOL left FIFA together and started their own competition, that would become the world cup. The FIFA World Cup would be irrelevant. Like I said, it is not going to happen. Still, here's hoping.

Of course not. FIFA took club world cup under itself (although it was after many years playing of Intercontinental cup), so it should be idiotic to abandon World cup. Money has too strong smell...

Blatter is stepping down. Live press conference.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32982449

“My mandate does not appear to be supported by everybody. This is why I will call an extraordinary meeting.”

“I will organise extraordinary congress for a replacement for me as president. I will not stand. I am now free from the constraints of an election. I will be in a position to focus on profound reforms. For many years we have called for reforms. But these are not sufficient.”

“We need a limitation on mandates and terms of office. I have fought for these changes but my efforts have been counteracted.”

That guy is officially insane. Not that I'm not glad nonetheless. Now for the only thing to say: whoever comes after him can't possibly be worse.

Breaking News: FIFA revives Hitler to take over as new President.

btw, when is your press conference?

Finally!

EDIT: Will the 2018 World Cup still happen in Russia? The person in my avatar would be unhappy if that is not the case.

Well, Blatter is to remain president until a new one has been elected. Probably won't happen for half a year. Enough time to safeguard and cover his tracks as much as is possible.

I wonder if Step Ladders Sepp Blatters standing down is going to affect the outcome of the current investigations and of course, the Qatar/Russia stuff. But he will of course stay until another is elected, may take a while (edit: bummer, Chrill got in whilst I was typing)

Four days ago, he firmly stood for re-election. Today he is stepping down. It is clear that something happened between then and now, something that made even Mr. Blatter understand the impossibility of staying. What is it?
