height map of the earth?

Hello beautiful people, having a height map of the earth? Or having an image that can be imported into the editor and see clear resolusion 4096x4096.

There is a world heightmap on the in-game content downloader that is 4096x2048, making one 4096x4096 would be very difficult because the world isn't square.

Who can give me a hand so you can import this image OpenTTD as height map in these measures?


Who are encouraged to create the PNG file so you can import the height map?

No one can give me a help? I need a map Geo TiFF format full earth with all continents and turn it into grayscale to do half of 4096x2048.

Is that there is a height map in Bananas but not very realistic because it has several errors in my opinion.

Yes, my idea is to improve the map of the earth in those measures mentioned before, because note that there are errors in location as the mountains in places where everything is plain for example.

If anyone has the original file in GeoTIFF format or ARCASCII earth I'll be really grateful

just use Gimp or some Photoshop or so, convert to greyscale etc ?

Any decent image processing programme will allow you to adjust the colour gradient such that a conversion to greyscale will give you elevation data encoded in greyscale. Alternatively use a decent greyscale map of the Earth in the first place, like from http://www.shadedrelief.com/natural3/pages/extra.html (first google hit for "dem data greyscale earth").
