TTDPatch Freezes
Hi all, anyone else had this happen?
Am running TTDPatch 2.0 Beta 4 under WinXP Pro SP2. Every 3 minutes and 50 seconds, approximately, the game freezes for about 7 seconds then resumes. This is also happening (not sure if same timings) on my PC at work, which is running Win2000, slightly different version of TTDPatch (2.0 Rev 1?)
Does anyone know what is causing this and if it can be cured. The game has never crashed (famous last words!) but it is irritating.
Any help gratefully received.
Lazza
P.S. When`s the Locomotion Demo coming out, Owen?

Re: TTDPatch Freezes
Try downloading dxmci.dll from http://www.ttdpatch.net/src/ - it'll likely be the music causing the problem. Put the file in your TT directory and try again.LazzaH wrote:Am running TTDPatch 2.0 Beta 4 under WinXP Pro SP2. I was supposed to have got it by now. I've e-mailed them again so should have a reply soon, I hope.LazzaH wrote:P.S. When`s the Locomotion Demo coming out, Owen?
Hey, did it freeze BEFORE you installed SP2? Because I've got XP Pro also and was just about to install SP2, and now you've got me worried. It's supposed to conflict with all sorts of stuff.

I don't imagine that Microsoft bothered to test SP2 with TTD...
Patchman, if you're reading this, do you have SP2 yet for testing?

Hmm. What flavor of XP do you have? I've got Pro, and I haven't had the slightest problem with TTD (Windows version, of course). But I have yet to install SP2. And I'd rather not, unless I know that a.) someone has tried it, and it worked, or b.) you'll try it, and if it doesn't work, figure out why and fix it. I can't imagine why the "security" fixes in SP2 would screw up TTD, but with Microsoft, who knows?

No idea, actually. It came preinstalled with the computer. I didn't spend a lot of time to try and figure out why it works. XP doesn't really have anything to offer me, and it has lots of things to annoy me, so I'll stay with 98 as long as I can, and then dump Windows altogether... (these days, I only boot it to work on the patch and play the games that don't work on Linux anyway.)krtaylor wrote:Hmm. What flavor of XP do you have?
If you read my post you will see that this problem also occurs on my PC at work, which is running Windows 2000, so I don`t think it`s an SP2 issue.krtaylor wrote:Hey, did it freeze BEFORE you installed SP2? Ah. Well, I think, then, that with great trepidation, I'll install SP2 and hope for the best. I'll let you know what happens, if anything.
BTW, Patchman, it's easy to tell which version you've got, it says so at the startup screen: XP Home vs. XP Professional.

Re: TTDPatch Freezes
That _might_ be caused by setting the aiboost switch too high too. Beta 4 has that switch, if I remember correctly.LazzaH wrote:Am running TTDPatch 2.0 Beta 4 under WinXP Pro SP2. Check you ttdpatch.cfg, and make sore that "aiboost=0"
Re: TTDPatch Freezes
The above seems to have worked, Owen, at least on my PC at work running Windows 2000.orudge wrote:LazzaH wrote:Am running TTDPatch 2.0 Beta 4 under WinXP Pro SP2. Thanks very much

I've had SP2 installed for a few weeks on here and have had no problems whatsoever. (And you know that I use TTD a lot for testing the US Set.)krtaylor wrote:Hey, did it freeze BEFORE you installed SP2? It doesn't when you've installed SP2, for some stupid reasonkrtaylor wrote:BTW, Patchman, it's easy to tell which version you've got, it says so at the startup screen: XP Home vs. XP Professional.
