Bigger resolution graphics

Post by kemkim »

With the big TFT screen graphics seem to be too small (1024x768) or too pixelated (640x480). So I suggest that the buildings and other graphics should be made larger.

Larger means bigger in size, what you mean is what you wrote in your subject: higher resolution. Higher resolution may make the graphics nicer but the game worser, for it requires better hardware. Not so badly on small maps but think of larger maps. If you ever SimCity 3000 or SimCity 4 you might get the point.

Thats what you get kemkim for playing games on a TFT screen. :D It is fine on my laptop at 1024x768, it is only 15" as well. Why don't you use 800x600? Yes it will look a bit pixelated but it isn't too bad.

If you really don't like it get a bigger monitor or get a CRT screen. I doubt anyone will make the graphics bigger just to please one person.

I use windowed mode on my twin monitors and every thing seems to be ok (same as 640x480) but just more content on the screen (my res is 2560 * 1024)

Pretty soon we'll have 1600x1200 screens, we should add an 2x AA mode there. The advantage over setting your TFT to 800x600 is that text can use the full resolution, while graphics are displayed at 4 screen pixels per grahics pixel. Perhaps we could even draw the vehicle sprites at better resolutions then; they suffer most from the current resloutions.

I'm in favour of drawing the vehicles to better resolutions! Also this could be the additional zoom level, and then the other buildings would be upscaled and if there were converted houses, they would look nice in this bigger size.

1024 x 768 too small on a tft? I play 1280 x 1024 on a 15" monitor... lol you should try it. I think for any larger resolutions, higher resolution menus and fonts will be a minimum... unless you like reading things the thickness of a hair :)
Siggy not gonna work unless someone allows javascripting...
