Lost the grey news bar that used to be at bottom centre

I downloaded OpenTTD from Steam, and when I first tried it, I had a grey bar at the bottom of my screen, which told when the game was paused, and gave me live updates, scrolling from right to left.
I can still here the beep beep beep noise it used to make, but the bar itself has disappeared and I cannot work out how to get it back.

I have changed the icon size to around 1.5 , if that makes a difference?

I still get pop-up messages about new vehicles etc.

The status bar should always be at the bottom, with an adjustment to left/center/right.

I'm going to guess that you're running OpenTTD in a window size that is larger than your monitor, and its appearing off-screen. Try going back to the Main Menu and changing the screen size to 800x600, see if everything pops back into view.

Also, toggle 'fullscreen' back and forth, to see if that brings it back in to view, as well.

Thank you, I tried changing resolution and the grey bar was still there, so I experimented and realised that my taskbar was covering the lowest strip of the game screen when I changed the graphic settings to my monitor resolution.
I found a way to reset my taskbar so it slides away.
