Switch from Coal to Iron and Back

Post by Ayaal »

Sorry, maybe I'm to stupid, but I'm trying for almost 2 hours now and I don't get it.

Here's a Vanilla Version of my problem:

I have a iron mine next to a power plant and a coal mine next to a steel mill.

So I want my trucks to go to the iron mine/pp, pick up the ore, go to the coal mine/steel mill, drop the ore, pick up some coal and drive back to drop the coal.

Is this possible???

All I can get running is assigning coal trucks and ore trucks which just deliver their products and than go back empty, which is just a huge waste of money and trucks. Am I missing something major?

(As I mentioned, this is a Vanilla Scenario, my problem is with Milk and Food in the FIRS newGRF: bring Milk, take back Food)

this is possible, but with some limitations.
  • you need a wagon/truck type that is able to load both cargos
  • then you can add a refit option to the load order in the order window, either refit to a specific cargo, or to any available cargo.
  • for refit-at-station to work the refit cost must be 0, or the NewGRF must explicitly allow this.
  • the wagon/truck must be fully empty at the station where refitting should occur.
  • if you use cargodist, you might have to run at least one explicitly refitted vehicle to jump-start the route, so the cargo can find the route
