No locomotive to build?

Post by Herman »

Hi there,

First I apologize if this question is a real newbie or nitwit question. I've tried to search, but didn't find the answer.

I installed the latest windows .exe build and had to point to my original TTD dir. So far so good, and everything went well.

I try to play the game, start in 2050 or something like that (altough the time says it's 19somewhat) and build a railtrak.

Now it comes, if I build a depot, I *CAN* build vehicles like coal, oil etc, but NO locomotives.....

Very strang. Anyone any idea?

TIA!

2050 with railroads? i think you don't know the fact of obsolete vehicles, in 2050 you could use only maglev and monorail, maybe in temperate you could use one electric engine, maybe...
electric, diesel and steam engines become obsolete with the maglev invention (about 2020) so you can continue building wagons for old railroad engines, but not engines, i'm (and other peoples like me) waiting for "persistent engines" so we can "save" the prefered engine buying that and "conserve" it in a depot or an unused piece of track

Thanx!

Of course I tried to build maglevs in 2050 :) But that didn't seem to work, neither as old ones or monorail.

I started again, new game, 1925 and random. Again, impossible to build engines (that was the word I was looking for)

Sidenote: I prefer only the "building part". For me the fun is in laying down track and just watch the world go on with improvements every now and then. That's why I'm glad it has a money cheat.

Additional:
The first games I tried to start were in the year 2100.

When I start in 2050 it works well.........

the game date stops in 2090, and before 1935 there aren't any locos

pleeaaaaaaaaaaseeeeee, make the date continue over 2090, i have trains old about 270 years (stopped eheh, for museums) built in 2000 and i don't know the year i'm! (i can sum 2000+270 and i obtain 2270, but it isn't a good thing to see every time 2090 in the date, i think is possible to play up to 65536)

That could be a good new feature, a train museum. :D Roll up, roll up, see the first train to every carry passengers from here to over there! Only £500!

I have the same problem I think.
I'm using version 0.3.2.1 for Windows.

I made a landscape in the editor and started at year 1960.
First I discovered already at the beginning that I had both monorail and maglev even though it only was year 1960, I had all trains.
And then at year 1975 or so i discovered that some of the locomotives couldn't be built anymore, they simply wasn't in the list of locos.
And now in 1980 I almost can't build any locos at all, I only have the SH40, both the monorail and the maglevs locos are gone.

What is wrong?
I miss my trains. :(

It's a bug. This one to be exact.

So if I have the same date in the 'configure patches' as in the editor when I create the landscape I wouldn't have this problem?

In my already created game will the trains, boats, vehicles and airplanes ever come back, like in 30 years or something?

I've attached the savegame that has the bug in it so you can check that we don't missunderstand eachother. :D

On a (maybe) related note: in my first game I started at the earliest possible date, and for some reason I had every single possible loco - rail, monorail and maglev!

I think that when you start a game in say 1950 loaded or load a game from then it will contain the vehicles from whenever you have set the start date for new games in the patch thing.

Yeah I changed the date in the patch thing to 1930 and when I started I had all possible rail vehicles, all road vehicles up to the Foster MkII Superbus, all the ships (I think) and every single aircraft.

(sorry for hijacking your thread haha)
